Fender clean -not so clean

After the latest update the fender patches seem much darker with more gain and breakup. I used the Deluxe patch for all my clean, mostly funk oriented work. Now it's not usable in that application with mids bumped forward and no clarity on top and the additional gain. Can't seem to dial it in either.

Any tips. I'm using the same guitar, same everything, and it's not happening for me. I can't seem to get a blackface clean tone now.
 
Did you reset the amp block in your presets after upgrading? Changes to the modeling sometimes require new default settings for advanced parameters. Resetting the block can help get you back to a correct starting point. Change to a different amp model and then back to reset all the advanced parameters in the block. You can also double tap the Bypass button (not FX Bypass) on the front panel at the block edit screen to reset all of the block's parameters back to defaults.

I did reset the amp block, but I didn't know about the bypass process in resetting all parameters. I'll try that tonight, thank you!

Try reducing the input drive parameter in the amp block and compensate for the volume loss by increasing the Level parameter in the amp block. I run the input drive as low as 0.7 on some presets.
 
You can also reduce the input trim to give you a more usable range of the gain control as well. Running input trim at 0.5 is the equivalent of plugging into the low sensitivity input on amps that are so equipped. This is particularly useful for getting clean tones with hot pickups. The problem with running the gain extremely low is that if bright is enabled, it will bypass a lot more treble when it's set that low and can then make the tone overly bright. Input trim is a transparent level control before the amp circuit and won't affect the bright cap at all.
 
When you reset the amp, if you aren't using FRFR go to the SPEAKER DRIVE parameter and change default value of 0.50 to zero.

Also agree with INPUT TRIM - set to 0.5 (or a little more depending), and use your guitar volume knob to pull a little gain out (if you wish) to get that "clean" tone.

I do the same with this latest FW and will also lower the Master Volume a little (should be on 10 for most of the Fender amp models) if need be. There's clean in these models, but I agree that they do seem to break up a little faster than the vintage Fender amps I'm used to or own. Part of that though is perceived volume.
 
Another +1 for input trim vs. input to preserve the bright cap interaction.

Also, when I run into "trouble" with an amp model, I always start from scratch with a preset with that model; just to eliminate amp block reset issues and to remove any advanced tweaks I may have forgotten I made to a previous preset.

When I build the scratch preset I use an IR that really trust / like. Lot's of times I end up in a better place with fewer tweaks. But sometimes I do "walk away" from a model I used to love :)

Ironically, the Bandmaster was my goto clean before 7.02... Now I'm really digging the Twin.
