FCB with uno

What Patrick said above.

It's easy. No soldering. Just a bit of glue that peels off.
I did mine in a couple of minutes.

Patrick's guides are an invaluable resource.

Patrick's guides are an invaluable resource.

Speaking of which, are Patrick's guides to be found anywhere
else on-line while his server is down?

My Ultra finally arrived yesterday, and I need to start thinking
about setting up a controller!

I don´t think so, but I´m sure the site will be up and running soon.
Actually setting up the FCB with UnO chip is quite easy.
You also get installation instructions with the UnO chip.

Argh! The voes site is down! I'm all ready to upgrade my FCB1010 and start programming it for use with the Axe-FX :(

Anyone have any more info on this?

It's very easy!

Get the chip in there (screw it open, remove the heat-glue from the chip that looks like the UnO and remove the chip. Use a small screwdriver as a crowbar to work it out. Pop the UnO in and for security's sake you could drop a few drops of glue from a glue gun on the sides. Screw it back on and that part is done)

Now I'm not quite sure of this part, I believe you need to program the fcb1010 to automagically accept sysex files if you wish to use the editor, that part I'm a bit hazy on, since it only needs to be done once and it was a while ago. See below.

Now get Riley's Ripwerx editor (free download) and hook the FCB1010 up to your midi.
Open a new file in the editor. on tab 2 there are the general options like midi merge on and!!! Stomp box mode!

And for when voes is still down:
Support files here:
http://www.ossandust.be/midi-footcontroller-support.php
And here:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/fcb1010/
You need to join the group to see the files section where there should be a how-to for setting the fcb1010 to accept sysex messages.

You could also check Archive.org... don't know what of voes's site is up there though, since my work blocks Archive.

Thanks a bunch! I put in my order for the UnO chip yesterday; I'll print out all the documentation today and hopefully I'll be all prepared when it gets in :D

About to buy an FCB and get an UNO http://www.ossandust.be/index.php (hopeing that site is a reputable one?)

could anyone tell me if its an easy intallation and if there is any soldering required.

Midi noob here!
Oh yeah, BTW, Ossandust is very reputable. He was even on the old Axe-FX forum and I think he's been around this one too. He's the maker of the UnO and the Gordius Little Giant foot controllers. There are some very avid fans of those here. http://www.gordius.be/midi-footcontroller-products.php

He's a very nice guy. The UnO software is free for downloading so you could bake your own chips if you wanted to. Not that hard if you have an eprom programmer.
