External TRS switch

I’ve got an external switch with a single TRS jack. Wanting to use this as a stand-in switch for tempo/tuner. I’ve tried a TRS cable and a normal 1/4” cable with no luck. Is what I’m wanting to do possible?

It all depends on the switch and how it's wired. Without knowing that, we can't tell whether it should work or not.

There’s no reason for a single switch to use a TRS jack. Was it for an H9? One of the footswitch functions works by closing ring and tip together. If this is the case, it’s easy to rewire
