External Distortion Pedal

Hello,

Can an external distortion pedal be connected to the FX8 (post in/out jacks) and be programed into a patch?

Thanks in advance!

The fx8 does not have a programmable loop. You could use a tc nova drive though and control it with midi

If it was the only thing in your post chain, then you could select it in and out of the of the entire signal chain using different post bypass settings per patch? Just guessing...

That seems like it should work. I am assuming the post loop can occur anywhere in the internal fx chain. If that is the case this should work.

This won't work.

The Pre/Post jacks on the FX8 don't work like an FX Loop. The output of Out 1 Pre can't be "soft-patched" internally to In 2 Post. You have to actually wire it - either from your amp send, an external pedal, or a jumper.

Only one cable is hitting your amp input - the cable from Out 1 Pre. Regardless of how you adjust the pre/post order of effects, only the pre effects will be sent to your amp input.
