I was not aware of that.I just learned the other day that Quincy Jones wrote the Sanford and Son theme. Is there anything he hasn’t done?

I'd almost bet most haven't heard this. It's a very effective and haunting melody.
I was just gonna suggest working up a medley. I think that's a good idea, and you've got feedback that it goes over well. The Munsters always went over very well for us. We did an entire TV show collage and people loved it.
Cissy Strut makes me nuts when done normally, but Simon McBride has a version of it that I love; I think it's what The Meters would have come up with if they wrote it today.Cissy Strut - the Meters
Freeway Jam - Jeff Beck
The documentary "Quincy" is awesome... as is the documentary "For the Record" about Nathan East.I just learned the other day that Quincy Jones wrote the Sanford and Son theme. Is there anything he hasn’t done?
I had my songs set to shuffle in my car and this came on; had totally forgotten about it. This would be fun if you could set up a 'call and response' with another band mate.
Yes - perfect! That brings the song a fresh breath. And fits a bit better stylistically for me. Thanks!Cissy Strut makes me nuts when done normally, but Simon McBride has a version of it that I love; I think it's what The Meters would have come up with if they wrote it today.
Have you heard Mark Lettieri's version of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World"? And his live version? Or his version of "Sunny"?Yes - perfect! That brings the song a fresh breath. And fits a bit better stylistically for me. Thanks!
Yes to the first... I've got all his albums and was going to actually comment that the video you posted reminded me a bit of how Mark might approach it.Have you heard Mark Lettieri's version of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World"? And his live version? Or his version of "Sunny"?

Not sure if you're still looking for ideas, but I just posted this in another thread and thought of you...
This is almost an instrumental....I think this was already mentioned earlier in the thread...
We kind of settled on the following (so far) but honestly haven't done much yet aside from jamming a bit:
Cissy Strut
Tequila
People Get Ready
