Dynacabs Or IR?

I use mainly Dynacabs because I find the system to me more practical.
I get closer to the result I want quicker this way, and I can spend more time playing rather than tone sculpting.
With IRs I always find that I spend way more time looking for a capture that works, and then even more time fixing with EQs on the patch itself or on my DAW.
With Dynacabs I get 90% there in a minute, then it is just little tweaks, minimal subtractive eq here and there.

I'd like to know what you guys have preferred to use.I feel that the Dynacabs have good definition but lack a bit of presence in the midrange. While the York Audio IRs have plenty of midrange but lack a bit of definition.

On the contrary, I find the YorkAudio (and most commercial IR packs) quite flat, fizzy on the highs, and lack of punch in the mids, to my taste.

Here is a DynaCab combination punchy and full of presence in the mids

both =)

I have some 3rd party IRs that will remain my go tos, but when doing presets with factory cabs I really like Dyna Cabs for tweaking tones it's very straight forward and can get more nuances in tone from the cab as opposed to trying out different factory legacy IRs as it were

Have you used the preamp for more fine tuning?

I’ve been using a exported ox box 4x12 v30 ir for some time now but I think I’ve got a pretty good replication now using the Friedman v30 dynamic1 and ribbon dynacab which is good as I was thinking about getting an ox stomp but I don’t feel that is necessary now.

Apart from a few factory presets I use for cleans, my own presets use Dynacabs now. I recently tested out some of my leads with the factory and 3rd party cabs I used before and I sounded horrible and certainly less definition.

Mostly Dynacabs, but also some IRs I have made from dialling in cabs in Helix native that I really like.

3rd party IR's for me. Ownhammer rock box at the moment (partial to the Marshall vintage and CBH75). I deal with my IR's in the DAW w/ Cab Lab. I have a Mesa traditional 4x12 otherwise. I remember struggling with Dynacabs a little to get a sound I liked but maybe I should re-visit. It's been a while.
