Drive Models Suck

There's nothing wrong with an opinion. Check out your Youtube "Should you buy a Fractal FM9 or Line 6 Helix" video from Dec 24, 2021. At 24:53 you said "I will say that the drive pedals on the FM9 kind of stink. I will say that the drive pedals on the Helix are excellent, very good". Maybe that opinion inspired this comparison.
It’s also one of a couple criticisms that another forum lets ring throughout the echo chamber, often times without any firsthand experience of their own.

The Venn diagram of people who have not used a modern Fractal product and those who criticize the UI/drives/parameters ad nauseum is almost a circle.

Interesting. That most definitely came out wrong in a rushed "this videos getting long so hurry up" matter. I do remember not being crazy about them at first. And still do prefer the hx drives for the most part. I never want to come across as "trashing" anything. Definitely a poor choice of words and not my intent in the video. I apologize if I sparked this whole thing as it was NOT my intent lol. I am getting on with the FM9 just fine currently and getting better on it every time I use it.

I can send a Klon KTR for modeling (as well as a Boss CE-1 with analogman mods with depth control of chorus); however, I'm sure this has been offered before.

This is interesting, because, for me, one of things I disliked about the Helix was the high gain sounds, and the boost pedals and how they effected the gain structure in the amps. I rarely use anything but a boost in front of the amp. I prefer to just use the gain settings within the amp itself.

Also interesting to me here. I wonder if how we use the gain on the models just sit certain ways and dont agree across modelers. I am gonna try running my edge of break up with even less gain to see if that gets me where I want. Its totally an objective thing, but i feel the pedals are hitting the amp too hard and i wind up with too much low end when the pedals engaged even at the lowest settings. I am gonna start thinking from scratch and pretend i know nothing outside of fractal when building things on the FM9.

The other thing to try in the amp block is use the input drive setting within in the pre-amp page. This, to me, adds a different flavor to driving the amp and getting a nice gain boost.
