Drive Models Suck

One real pedal, three modelers (except for the Timmy for which the third modeler doesn't have a model).

Pedal into Band-Commander model set clean.

The setlist for Cliffs Rush cover band continues to expand!!! Love it!!!

When it comes to choosing which one is the Axe and which is the competition...

Everybody got mixed feelings
About the function and the form

I really don’t understand the complaints about Fractal’s op amp/diode-based drives. I used to own several of the same pedals that were modeled, and sold them because the ones in the Fractal sounded and felt identical. These clips showcase that quite nicely.

Budget ear-bud commentary based on the partial reveal, my guess is Axe Fx model is the 4th sample in each except the Timmy, where I think it's the first one.

I'll do a partial reveal:
The second take in each clip is the real pedal. The modelers are Axe-Fx, Brand L and Brand N. It's not about which "sounds best" it's about which most closely matches the real pedal.
So, actually I really digged the 2nd on the Tube Screamer.
It has that sort of "analog pop out" that things more present and sizzled. I mean, the AX model has the character of it, but the real pedal has that sort of thing that make it more present and sizzled on the mids

I was thinking that second is the AXE and first the real pedal :D But now I think it's the other way around. While the last two samples seem to me to fizzy sounding and somehow less transparent. I don't care which brand, but I owned an L brand and it had this character.

Really? A Tubescreamer is only for amateurs?
Just FYI, most people use a Tubescreamer as a boost pedal. "Drive" is usually set very low if not at zero. And they like the characteristics of the tone of the boost versus the added gain via the Drive knob.
