I think its good to have pedals just to have a frame of reference when using the AxeFX. I have a pedal and tube rig, and I think if anything it enhances my AxeFX experience.
Back when I started playing in the 80s, there was Boss, Digitech, Ibanez and DOD on the low end for pedals, mostly. Now, there's a million boutique pedal manufacturers out there! Its like the craft beer market today. Tons of great stuff from small companies being put out. A real golden age of pedals, I think.
I'm leaning toward a TC Nova Delay for my B-rig. Seems to have the most features and quality at a great price.
