Dehumidifier?

No whole house AC, forced hot water heat, so converting to AC is pretty unlikely.

Yes basement, but I'm not aware of any drain. There might be one under the rug in the studio, which would be kind of dumb, but i don't know. There's no drain depression in the rug.

Oh well, it was a thought. Where I live, a basement with no floor drain would be a code violation. But that's not true everywhere.

My basement dehumidifier is routed to an AC condensate pump, which is similar to this from Amazon... perhaps you could get one of these and route some tubing from the basement up through some hole to the outside? My basement stays pretty steady at 50%, but without the dehumidifier (particularly in the summer here in ATL) it would be intolerably musty. https://www.amazon.com/Little-554425-VCMA-20ULS-Condensate-Removal/dp/B000SM342Q/

50% to 60% RH is very comfortable and easily achievable. Everyone who ever came over to my home would say “why does it feel so good in here? I was just in “____” house and although cool, it felt damp and wet.” I now the opposite problem in Wyoming, it’s a bit arid here…
 
I run two dehumidifiers, one in my studio and one in the living room. I think mine are GE. Living in SE Texas with 10000% humidity most of the year, these things are a god-send. I've ran them for years with no issues.

I'd have to run a dehumidifier in the summers here to get 50% constant humidity indoors. I have central air which is taking gallons of water a day out of the air as is. It hovers around 50 in the morning and by early evening it is usually up to 60. I can freeze the house out to get the number lower but I came here for the heat.
