California Love vocoder?

Not wanting to use a mic, but just guitar. What would be a good layout for that sound in song? Never used vocoder before. Thanks!

I don't believe you can use the Vocoder without a mic.

I'd say get a nice saturated tone and play around with the Wah, Synth, and Phaser blocks

It's a talkbox and a keyboard, so you might try the Formant block.

For vocoder sounds, think Imogen Heap "Hide and Seek" or Styx "Mr. Roboto".

Yeah, they used a talk box on that song. Maybe try a small speaker IR like the 1st factory cab and turn the speaker size parameter down low to simulate the little squalky speaker driver inside the talk box and then run that into the formant block to simulate the mouth movements.

For vocoder, I always think of Soundwave's voice from the old Transformers cartoons from the 80's. He's the one that transformed into a tape deck and had the sweet cassette tapes that would fly out and transform into a dog, a bird, and a little robot. How 80's is that!
