Backup with Fractal Bot takes 34 minutes!?!

I have bought the AX8 (very cool!) and I'm editing some sounds right now.
There is one thing, which is really strange (and annoying) to me:

I used Fractal Bot to backup the complete Ax8 and it last about 34 minutes!
For ca. 12.2 MB over USB? Normally, this should be much faster...?

Details:
(see also: http://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/please-speed-up-fractal-bot.120033/)

I did some tests in the last few days....

In each test, I have chosen "backup all" in Fractal Bot.
I used absolutely the same USB-cable, USB-port, etc.
I only exchanged Ax8 <-> Axe Fx II

Axe Fx II:
4 minutes 15 seconds (for ca. 4.4 MB of data)

Ax8:
34 minutes!!! (for ca. 12.2 MB of data)

This is annoying. Does anybody have the same experience?

Same here. Just learned that the AX8 is only USB 1.1:eek:. Interestingly FW-Update is much faster...

This not really a problem of USB 1.1 which allows for up to 12Mbit/s in full speed mode. Even if you can only utilize about 50% of the raw speed the transfer could be a matter of a few seconds. This means the bottleneck is the processor and the software driving the transfer.

I think the reason for the slow data transfer is the underlying MIDI protocol.
MIDI data is transferred with 32kbit/sec, which is roughly 7MB in 30 minutes.

So it can't be the reason for the long transfer time or else it would take even longer (7MB in 30 minutes = 12.2 MB in about 52 minutes).

Fractal probably knew that you would spend no time with your family after purchasing the AX-8, so as a safety measure the back up process is slowed to make you leave the AX-8 and take a break while it does its thing since you can not play it while it backs up.
