Seems like there's some issue that's making a much bigger difference, but backups run quicker if you start on a blank preset.

I've seen issues on my MacBook pro, using Fractal Bot, with some operations taking a long time, even timing out, when I run them in the background. Since then I just run the app in the foreground until it completes and haven't had that issue since.

Unfortunately not, needs a new type of wire which I have just the one. End on computer is much smaller these days.

Yes. Weird but anecdotally true. Seems like that could be avoided in the firmware, but there's an easy workaround.

It’s insane that the unit doesn’t go to such a place in its own. How many people not reading this are suffering needlessly?

It shouldn't take 2 1/2 hours to transfer 45MB under any circumstances.

I've never had to wait anywhere remotely close to 2.5 hours to perform a backup regardless of the preset that the backup was started on. 2.5 hours is an absolute irregularity.

Backups are done during spare CPU cycles. If it's a preset that uses a lot of CPU then the backup could take a long time.

The alternative is to halt processing during backup but then you can't make any noise and annoy your neighbors and where's the fun in that?

FUN vs EXPEDIENCY? That's a horrible tradeoff to have to decide between for first-worlders.
