Axe-Fx III Firmware 29.00 Release

It already does exactly this... No need for a wish.
I'm not getting a gap, but there's times when it feels like it's activating on the way up. It's like there's a delay in switching over, when using setlist/songs and switching from preset to preset. My CPU is in the 60's. Is it possible because the presets are too different, the blocks that are used, and if they are in different positions in the grid? It seems to me that if I switch to an identical preset there's no "lag" for lack of a better word. I wish someone would make a tutorial about this.

I just updated to the latest firmware and dynacabs, but I may have missed in the thread if we need to reset amps in our presets? If so whats the best way to do so without losing all the parameters. If i copy and paste an amp block or channel from an older preset and paste in a new preset is the amp already updated or do i still need to reset the amp? I just want to know how many pages in the amp block I’ll need to screen shot to get all the settings back after the reset. Thank you guys.

Unless you have a Hold function or you're using the bottom right switch and have the MLM enabled (default) then the switches fire on press.

Have you fully enabled Gapless?

  • Gapless == ON
  • Spillover == ALL
  • Any presets being changed to saved under current firmware

The Release Notes don't say to reset Amp blocks.

From the Amp block there is an option to Soft Reset. In Manage Presets there's an option to Soft Reset multiple presets.

Pretty sure but I’ll check again. Thanks

There is no Activate on Press option.

When you have a Tap and a Hold function assigned to a switch the Tap function always fires on release.

It has always been this way.

The Hold function will either fire after the hold timeout or optionally on release (and after the timeout).

There's nothing in the firmware that affects the timing of the Tap function.
Understood, thank you very much. I probably didn't realize that the tap function was activated when released, and it coincided with the firmware update.
Thank you very much. Best regards.

Well I'll be darned - I don't think its some kind of psychological thing - everything sounds better with this release..... and the Black Magik might be my new favourite amp! To the incredible team at Fractal - thank you again!

Can someone explain why the Fractal-Bot interface doesn't update the "Firmware" progress bar to show "COMPLETE" after that firmware is installed? This is super confusing. Just my humble suggestion, but if this is by design I would recommend changing the "begin" button to say "reinstall". The fine print at the bottom of the close button isn't sufficient IMO.

I know the stand-alone version of Fractal-Bot displays a pop-up that the firmware is installed and to turn off the unit, wait five seconds, and all that. Can't remember if the Fractal-Bot within Axe-Edit does this.

Yes, but the update process isn't over after the reboot, you still have to update the DynaCabs per the Fractal-Bot steps. The problem is, after the reboot the pop-up confirmation pop-up is gone and Fractal-Bot still looks like you need to perform the firmware update. It's still showing 0% on the progress bar even though you just installed it. That is confusing. It should no longer say "Begin", it should say "Reinstall".

It's poor UI design.

You're not wrong IMO, we just live with it.

I'm just hoping someone at Fractal reads this. It's a simple fix.
There might be some complication because beta and release firmwares might both still show 29. But there's a separate place for Axe edit feedback which might be better to report this then the firmware thread
