Ok so the tricky question :

What happen if you don’t save and go back to the preset? You have your old preset with old algorithm ? I mean it only does this one time ?
Maybe only @FractalAudio know the answer
I believe then anything that would have changed when performing the soft re-set and any other changes you may have made will not have saved.

There's a difference between algorithms and parameters. As explained earlier in this thread.

The latest firmware always runs the latest algorithms. They are implemented through firmware updates. As a user you cannot choose.

The computational result of an algorithm can be manipulated through setting parameters. Like the Treble value in the Amp block. There are also hidden parameters. A preset is just a collection of parameters values.

A reset of an effect, whether soft or hard, does not touch the underlying algorithm, it resets all parameters (incl. hidden ones) to their default values for the specific effect type.

So, if you do a soft reset of the Amp block, but don't save the preset, the preset will still run on the latest algorithm but it will have parameter values that MAY not be optimized for the specific amp type.

Yek is always clear and spot on explanation 👍

This ↑.

When a preset is loaded, the FW version it was created with is checked (that value is stored in every preset). If it's newer than the current FW, the preset does not load (incompatible). If it's older than the current FW any automatic parameter changes are applied at that time and the Edited LED is lit up to show that it's been changed.

Take the example of Cliff adding a new parameter to a block. Any preset created before that FW version will not have a setting for that parameter saved. If it's missing, it gets added at its default value when the preset is loaded.

Hello everyone, after updating my Axe-Fx III firmware to version 28.06, I noticed that switching between different cabs in the Cab block produces a clicking or popping noise. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issue, or if there's something I might be doing wrong. Thank you

Attach a preset that demonstrates the issue.

@lidadada already has a thread started about this. It'd be better to continue with that thread to keep the discussion focused.

Man oh man oh man.... sitting here updating (doing the "new"soft resets) on the "remastered amps" --- and I am totally in love with the Soldano SLO 100.

Knew this was a great amp in real world - but always struggled a bit with it to sound as good as I thought it should - but no more!

Used some Dynacabs 4x12 1960 w/that same speaker impedance curve and the Live Gold presets and just added about 1.5db level to each and it's f'ing glorious out of my Laney 2x12s. This could become my new go-to Marshall amp preset.

Well done Cliff! Killer.

This!
I just made a dual amp preset with the Friedman HBE and it sounds just glorious!

Man oh man, beware clickers, hide somewhere safe!

Absolutely love the SLOs now. Struggled a bit with them previously, but they sound and feel incredible.
+1. 💯. Some of the most ear pleasing harmonically rich rhythm & lead tones ever. As a riffer first, and a slower handed "bendy/ feely" lead player, it makes harmonics/pinches almost effortless. That says a lot coming from me, because I'm pretty inconsistent hitting them with almost any other amp.
