Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Notes

27.03

Improved Drive block.

Improved PI Fuzz model. The new model also allows changing the type and quantity of diodes used in the transistor feedback paths, adds a “Wicker” switch which removes the feedback capacitors and adds a “Tone” switch which allows bypassing the tone circuitry.

Added “PI Fuzz – Triangle” model. This is based on a 1971 “Triangle” Big Muff PI. Thie model also includes the Tone Wicker mods.

Added “PI Fuzz – Ram’s Head” model. This is based on mid-70’s “Ram’s Head” Big Muff PI. The model also includes the Tone Wicker mods.

Added “Colortone Booster” model based on a Colorsound Power Booster (with added Master control).

Added “Colortone OD” model based on a Colorsound Overdriver (with added Master control).

Fixed Phaser block LFO Reset now working properly for some types.

Fixed wrong Miller capacitance value in Brit 800 models (probably not audible).

Various other fixes and improvements.

Wow, this can be called the Gilmour firmware! Thanks a lot, very excited for these additions

PS: and the ability to change diodes, remove the feedback caps and bypass the tone circuit maybe could lead to replicate fairly well something like the Cornish G2... need to experiment there!

You should be able to get very close to a G2 by bypassing the tone circuit and using the High Cut as a tone control.

I was just telling my wife other day that other than not having the DC30 Jumped in the Axe, the only thing I'd change is the Miller capacitance value in the 800's, they just don't sound right.
Yes, the other day a wise man said to me, more whispering than saying with his broken voice: "The Miller capacitance ...", breaking up, shaking his old white head, trying to hide the tears in his eyes. I fear, this came too late for him ...

Yep, but that cirtcuit is also pretty picky about the diodes, to make my clone sound similar to the original I had to try a loooot of different ones before finding a quartet that suited it well.
So spill the beans!
What diodes did you use?
Do we have them or something close?
Have you tried your special recipe with the beta?
