Axe-Fx II and MFC Expander Port

If you use a CAT 5 ethernet cable to connect the MFC to the AXE-FX II, what do you do if/when you add an expansion module to the MFC? Go back to 7 pin midi for the AXE_FX II to MFC connection and use the CAT 5 connection from the MFC to the expander?

You plug the CAT-5 into the expander and then another short CAT-5 from the expander to the MFC-101.

To expand on this, would it be possible to use the expander as more of an extender. For instance, I have MFC on one side of the stage and Expander on the other. Buttons on the expander would control (some of) the same functions as the MFC. Would be nice for large stages.

If you look at the MFC manual, you'll see IAs 18-41 are "reserved". Nothing has been announced, but I'd bet 4 row, 3 column add-on modules are in the FAS future.
