Axe-Edit not recognising a .syx file?

Hi guys! First post here, so I apologise if this is in the wrong spot!

I recently got an XL, and I couldn't be happier with it so far. I've been using Axe-Edit a lot for presets, and I figured a good starting point would be to look at other peoples tone's and what kind of settings, amps, cabs etc they are using. There's one tone I really want to have a look at, but my understanding is that it was for an Ultra. It won't open in Axe-Edit, as it says it's not a valid file, even though it ends in .syx.

Is there something I can do to make this work?

Thanks for any help guys!

Welcome Chelmer and congrats on the purchase

My guess is that you'll likely need a much older version of Axe Edit to read an Ultra file. With that you'll be able to 'see' what's in the patch, but not transmit it to your XL

Unless it's a 'special effect' that you're looking into, I wouldn't worry too much about recreating a certain tone because the chances are that the XL will be able to surpass that patch by a long way

You can download Fedit from my signature and use the FADumpCheck utility to see what type of .syx file it is. Does not require a license to perform that check.

STD/Ultra files are not compatible with the II or XL.
