Axe Edit for ipad

Hi guys, I'm brand new to the forum. Im an axe FX 2 xl user, apologies if this is a tired old question but will axe edit ever be made for iOS/ipad? Ultimately I would love to have the freedom that sound guys now have with the ability to walk around the venue and tweak my tone to my own ears. but just a simple operation of having a pad on top of my rig would be just as amazing.

Thanks for your time,

Danny.

I'm also very new and too apologize if this is a tired topic. But I agree this would be very cool. I know there isn't bluetooth capability inside the Axe-FX, but even if you could control it via iPad by way of your laptop via USB. I don't know if that's possible, but even just in the studio when the Axe-FX is connected via USB... using the iPad would be very convenient instead of grabbing for the mouse.

Welcome Danny G.

You are correct in that using an iPad with Axe Edit is not a new topic. You can read up on the threads about it here.

I've been a happy iPad and Axe FX user for years but when I recently upgraded to the XL+ I just bit the bullet and bought a Surface 3 which is awesome with Axe Edit.

I'm thinking about a 4-pro ... question if I may ...

Do you run a DAW on your MSFT Surface as well or just AXE Edit? Also, do you mount your MSFT Surface on a stand (and if you do, how do you do it)?

Many thanks in advance.

No, I don't run a DAW because I don't think it would handle it to be blunt. It might work with some of the lighter weight ones but haven't even looked into it. Some folks around here are running the better Surfaces and as I recall they're running DAWs. Do a search for "Surface" here, in the title only and you'll find the threads pretty quick.

As for a stand, right now I just sit it on the arm of the couch. I haven't gotten any further than that with it.

The Surface 3 i7 with 8GB ram is a very respectable device. We run Ableton and the XR18 mixer app without any issues. We record Off the XR18 inputs and use an RJM Mastermind GT to control it via midi mappings. Nothing crazy going on but under our light use very solid.

Cheers

I record 32 tracks off the board to my i5 surface pro 3 regularly. No issues there. Axe edit runs fine too. I wouldn't rely on it with the low end Surface 3 for anything but axe edit, but the Pro and Book models are totally capable of light to medium audio processing.
