Ax8 for IR cab emulation

Anyone ever used an Ax8 for cab emulation only with a tube head (like a torpedo)? I have a loadbox and thought about running from the line out into the insert of the ax and using just IRs.
Thought? Experiences? Any reason that I shouldn't try it?

One of the best ways to use it; try the 4CM setup with it and use the extra DSP you save by omitting the amp block on more fx.
