What steps can I take to using my AX8 early morning like 2 am to 5 am, or 8:30 am to noon, or 7 pm to 11 pm without disturbing the neighbours?

I've thought about buying a tube amp and practicing on it with headphones but there's got to be a way to use my current AX8 system with headphones such that I can hear the guitar and use the AX8 fully as if it's a live practice session any time of the day.

Playing a guitar vanilla without an AX8 is unacceptable. I want to be 100% mimicing real performance. It's just that I live in a condo and can only blast my Redsound Elis 8's between 1 pm and 5 pm.

Advice appreciated!

Listen from the headphone jack on your DAW interface. Easy. Done.

Yeah I usually use it for recording but I can just turn off the monitors and listen to the headphones out of my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 through Ableton.

Thanks for clearing that up. Since i love the sound of loud music I've always been tempted to practice only when I can blast an amp , monitor, or frfr unit.

Now I can squeeze in another 6 hrs a day of practice using my DAW.

I can't wait to see what an additional 6 hrs a day on top of my 3 hrs in the afternoon will do to my results!

Thanks!

If you don't want to always be in the same area as your DAW interface then here are some options for you.

Here is a link to an older thread that discussed options for using headphones:

Here is a link to a cheap headphone amp:

I found that I liked the headphone amp a little more and I could let others have their own listening channel as well as myself.

It's needs to be attached to a computer. It's not a standalone amp. I contacted Sweetwater and that's what they told me.

The Behringer? It’s most certainly a stand alone headphone amp and there is actually no way to attach it solely to a computer.

I got a confusing reply from Sweetwater then , or perhaps I misread a detail. I don't have that email anymore.

That's great that you can take it anywhere for practice. As for me I'm using the AX8 I need to hear the sound of my presets, sound effects, and drives, delays etc and I need to focus on hitting those scene buttons to dig in muscle memory when I practice. So I'm sticking to use headphones out of my audio box and DAW software.

You will find for $35 that the Behringer Headphone Amp will be a great/cheap solution for using the headphones with the AX8 especially since you can adjust the volume/level with the headphone amp.

You don't need anything else to use it, simply connect your AX8 output to the input, plug in your headphones to a headphone output, and you'll be hearing your AX8 presets.

From the Sweetwater site:

Simply plug in your stereo mix and then connect up to four headphones, each with their own volume controls. It doesn't get any easier. Use the Behringer MicroAMP HA400 headphone amp to get the signal out to your headphones.

A similar device but the Mackie brand:
