anyone messed with the CA OD-2 lately?

I've been using the CA OD-2 for an incredibly versatile clean to scream, hugely touch-sensitive tone for a while now. Just updated to 6.02, and used it last night. Now that I have played out with it after update, I think I need to change some things about the drive I had previously mated it with (Esoteric RCB) but yeah, this is a FANTASTIC amp model!

My settings I think are pretty different than yours... for example, I'm pretty sure my master volume is closer to 6 than 8. I'm gonna have to try yours, and see what develops.

Yes. I've been messing with the CA OD-2 and the Tucana lately. I have a 4x12 Rumble-12L / Bludo mix that I like with the OD-2. Alan makes great amps!

Funny. I dialed up the amp like the settings above, and just added a cab without changing it to 105 and 106 (forgot). Tweaked the cab and played it and loved it for about 20 minutes.

Then I looked at the cab, and it was the oval 6.

After trying 105 and 106, I found the oval sounded more like Bonamassa.

Go figure.

Simeon, I appreciate your posting Bonomassa's settings, earlier. I'm more happy with my own tonestack settings, but the Master Vol at 8-ish sounds considerably fatter and richer than the approx 6 setting I had been using.
Great amp!!!

Thanks for this, Simeon. I hadn't visited this one in awhile, and it made me redo my primary patch. I was using two Bludo blocks, one for crunch rhythm and one for a thicker lead tone, but I had trouble dialing out some low mid stuff in the rhythm side in particular.

The CA tone immediately got me closer to the thick preamp boost tone that I have on my home brew ODS for leads, although I ended up nowhere near your tone stack settings.

But I also decided to revisit an amp I used to use before the Bludo, the Ford 2. That is now my main crunch rhythm tone...it has girth and midrange clarity, but lacks the issues in the low mids I was having with the Bludo. Using EL-34s and the ECC803S, it cleans up and sits in the mix better for rhythm than does the CA with reduced drive. So thanks for the reminder to explore!

Tried these settings into a real cab (no cab block) - took out a little bass- added some treble. WOW - sounds awesome! I actually lowered my volume knob on my guitar to around 1 or 2 - Get this great break up.. Thanks for reminding me of this amp!!

HA! I did something likewise yesterday (into V30s). CA OD2 was killer in Q1 for me then it lost some harmonic content along the way (for me) but the trick with the volume control (had a hot SC bridge PUp) and it does really shine!
