Anyone ever have to relocate a TOM bridge?

Yes that's normal and Yes it will sound better and be more in tune, not a placebo effect . You have basically optimised the down pressure on the saddle top for a clean note with overtones minimised.

You can improve your tuning stability on a Les Paul style head by having the wraps of string around the tuners going up over the hole instead of down under it . This lessens the pressure in the nut which is too much in a Gibson at 17 degrees. It works on anything and only is an issue on shallow head angles that wouldn't have this problem anyway. Don't forget always tune UP to the note to take out the slop in the worm gear. Do this and a Gibson head with broken tuners will stay in tune.

That makes perfect sense. Thanks for all the advice!

Don't fall into the internet folklore that you must deck your tailpiece and top wrap for "true tone". Myth!

There’s no shortage of folklore on the internet!

I’m actually relieved to know that top wrapping is unnecessary. It’s kind of a pain in the ass to do compared to the standard method of stringing.
