AES/EBU Cable

I am getting ready to buy an AES/EBU cable and need advice. I can get a Hosa 30' cable for $24 and a 30' Pro Co for $100. Since it is transferring digital info, is the cheaper cable just as good as long as it works?

A mic cable works fine.

That's good to know but now I am even more confused. Are you saying a mic cable will work fine just for the Axe II or for all AES/EBU applications.
