PLEASE make it possible to reset/retrigger the AXE-FX's LFOs via midi. Even if this were only possible on the CONTROL LFOs, it would make a world of greater performance experiences possible.

This ideally requires 2 components: one to designate which external controller should trigger the restart, and a 2nd to specify which point of the waveform is aligned to the restart position (sometimes called Phase but more appropriately referred to as ALIGNMENT imo).

These features would help ensure your groovy syncing LFOs can stay in sync with a live drummer. Also, it would allow you to sync trem and other effects to a sequencer or DAW.

The envelope and ADSRs should also be triggerable via midi.

Finally, an implementation of MIDI song position pointer reception would help prevent LFO DRIFT (though the above RESET/RESTART can address this just as well with some work).

Matman - you must play with this thing ALL DAY LONG!! Where do you come up with this stuff?? ;)
I am just happy when it comes on and I get sound! :D

Hi Dojo,

First, I have worked as a product specialist in the music gear industry for over a decade. As such, I've leared the inner most intimate workings and secrets of some of the most wonderful and terrible devices you can imagine.

Second, I've also been doing professional sound design for almost twice as long-- factory presets, work for composers, artists, etc, across synths, effects, software, and more.

At the union of these two things lies a certain type of expectation set, which makes me always want to take the best of what's new and combine it with the best of what I've already seen or used.

This particular feature-- the ability to nail a certain point of the LFO to its externally re-triggered restart, is from the Access Virus, (which also doubles as an insanely cool guitar processor.) The sound I'm working on is so cool I can't stand it, but it drifts against a real drummer.

Thus the request.

I don't even know what he's talking about ever, but the patches sound cool.... at least the ones I can load on my Standard. Keep up the good work! :D

Being able to set the start phase* of the LFOs and MIDI trigger them (and the ADSRs) is a good idea. Dpoirier figured out a workaround recently to trigger the LFOs that might work for you in the meantime: assign a controller to the LFO Type and send that when you want the LFO triggered. That probably wouldn't work for using the envelope to trigger the LFO, though, since a specific value has to be sent; for that you really need a trigger parameter that could be targeted by the envelope, MIDl, etc.

(The envelope is a bit confusingly named from a synthesizer viewpoint, as it's the natural volume envelope of the incoming sound (aka an envelope follower), so you trigger it yourself by playing a note - MIDI trigger wouldn't make sense in this case.)

* you're the first person I've heard refer to phase as something other than phase.
