5-String Banjo as Reverb

Inspired
Last night I was playing through the AxeFx into a cheapo crate acoustic amp for fun and I was hearing a really sweet reverb on a patch that I didn't remember having added reverb to. It turned out that it was coming from a 5-string banjo that was sitting in front of the acoustic amp. :) Sounded great. :)

Do the same with a piano, that sounds spooky!
That used to be one of my old studio tricks for subtle ambient miking:

face the cab 5 or 6 ft from the open lid of a piano.
Tape down the sustain pedal on the piano.
Attach pzm mic to piano lid (so you don't have to worry about phase relationships eith the close cab mic).
Blaze away on guitar or bass.
Mix piano mic in with cab close mic to taste.
