3.04 transfer TAKING FOREVER FOREVER FOREVER!!!

I've updated my axe fx ii twice, 3.02->3.03, and 3.03->3.04. both took about 2 minutes. i did one update through axe-edit on a win7 pc, the other on a mac mini. isn't it odd that there seem to be considerable differences in the amount of time the updates take?
 
3.04 went as fast as all the rest of them. Took about 2-3 minutes. Axe Edit >> USB cable >> Axe FX II.
Had a couple of problems getting the USB to " talk " once, but no fault of FAS, just sh*tty windows problems as usual ;)
 
How did you fix the getting the usb to talk?
I upgraded to 3.04 last night--all went fine until the very end of verifying and then screen just froze saying there was a midi communication problem
all buttons on axe fx froze so had to power off and on again--scary+++
booted up and firmware says 3.04--seems to be working fine
what should i do different next time
Mac/usb/axe edit 1.0248--maybe it was because other usb stuff plugged into mbp
