2025 VST/VSTi Plugins!

I agree, the 3 pack over at Thomann Music is a better deal than any deal put out by Toontrack.

Also, because of this I have completely moved on from toontrack. There are many smaller companies that have mix ready drums that are better in my humble opinion. ML Drums are great for example and priced fairly. He currently has a sale on for 50% off and there is a video i watched earlier where he gives a code for an additional 25% off. GGD is another one but I have yet to try their products. Toontrack songwriting features are great so I still use it for that but I don't use it for drum samples anymore. This is just my personal experience and decision based on other things i'd rather spend my hard earned cash on.
Didn't know about that Thomann deal, thanks. Looks like it includes newer stuff too, just not Orchestral, which i don't need.

So far I'm pretty much sticking with Toontrack for drums. I have some others from back in the day, they're just not as complete or well put together or well supported. That landscape may have changed, maybe, or not.

Admittingly, It was late and I was a bit hard on TT. You definitely get what you pay for. I have SD3 and ED3 with many of their older packs up to Death and Darkness/Rooms of Hansa. I may grab Hitmaker, Legacy of Rock and Stories at some point ;).

Do you know Vps Avenger 2 ? I got it with 3 additional packs and its a great sounding synth plugin, with a truck load of features, and very easy to play and can go very deep in parameterization.

I don't own it but isn't it a rompler? You can get it as rent to own at Plugin Boutique.

I'm up for Rooms of Hansa, Hitmaker, Legacy of Rock, Stories, Real To Reel, Jazz Sessions, State Of The Art, maybe others, but i can't do that, sadly. Some probably though.

I used to think Toontrack was cream of the crop. Still amazing. If I were starting new at drum VST i'd consider some others that are way more affordable and like was mentioned , there are some great samples out there. I'm just invested in SD3 and quite familiar with it ...that being said their SDX are never really discounted much even the very old ones and I think I'm done buying more SDX's. Rooms of hansa is only other one i want but never goes much on sale

Modern & Massive 2 is on sale

Studio Rats Tonex Everything Bundle is on sale for £100, normally way more. Over 640 captures, everything produced by The Studio Rats up to and including Dec 1st 2025.

Is there any information from the guide on what settings the captures are made to? I don't understand such captures where there are none. That's why Amalgam's captures are great and everything is explained. Big Amalgam fan here. In any case, a great package for that price, for sure.

I haven't seen a guide. They have a YouTube channel that demonstrates most of the packs they have on offer but its of the amp they capture not the captures themselves and I'm pretty they are using external pedals in the chain. The focus is on the Amp not the capture pack. Also, most of the captures are V1 captures but unfortunately they don't explicitly say which captures are from V1 or V2. His taste in tone is close to mine though so I will likely get the Everything bundle. If the captures sound anything like the amps they demoed I will be a very happy camper.

Edit: I just had a look. There is a list of the captures under each pack but no description on amp settings.

Thanks for the info. In that case I'm not interested in the package. Amalgam is easy so you quickly know what sound you're looking for in an amplifier. Another thing is that once you try v2 captures you won't need the old ones anymore.

What Amalgam v2 captures have you tried and recommend? I picked up Jason Sadites ZRay captures and I really love it. So many options in his packs with several DIs.

I actually tried the Jason Satides Deluxe Reverb recordings. They were great. Unfortunately, Amalgam doesn't have many V2 recordings yet. I'm going to try this BCAT ER30 ToneX V2 cabinet soon. Too bad it's not a DI. I've probably been using more NAM recordings than Tonex lately. Both sound good to me. I'm sure Amalgam and Karlis will be releasing a lot more new material, but Karlis is busy with new websites and stuff.

I also recommend Fabian Ratsak's captures. You can watch them on his website and YouTube channel.
