I haven't had a chance to try the new SS PA + Cab amp option, but the updated MBC is a real treat as are the FAS boost option in the amp block and the new Axe-Edit features. Hopefully this video gives you an idea of what's new and how to use it.

Another tip. If your goal is to only compress palm mutes then you will want to adjust the threshold by watching the mid meter. Set the crossovers etc. as above. Then, set the mid threshold to 0 and gradually bring it down while doing some palm mutes. You want the mid meter to move a slight bit indicating only the PM range is being compressed. For me and my Ran, this is generally at -17 db.
