🔥Introducing ICONS - Amp Modeling + FX - Plugins & Standalone

I get where you’re coming from. At the same time, ICONS isn’t about selling “everything in the hardware” to everyone. Most players don’t want everything—they want the amps they actually use.

That’s why ICONS is currently organized around families. If you’re into a particular thing, it will be just right. Future releases will feature other amp families, and some will can across families entirely.

Now that we have a platform capable of running our algorithms, it opens the door to a world of ICONIC possibilities.
I got you but let’s say the Rectifier guys (you know they are kinda loyal to his tones) are waiting for it but FAS plans are to release it by Christmas 2026.
Hm… I don’t know…. (Sorry my poor English)

Looks great, will be getting when get home tonight.
Would love an iPad version to play Fractal on the go!
Thanks for the continued great work, love the AM4 & sure will love this, looks really fun & serious!!

You have an AM4...can't you already play Fractal "on the go"?

To some extent, but need power & connecting to my iPad for the apps I use, be much easier with just the iPad. Also, iPad is easier to move about & would mean I don’t have to unplug the AM4 from its desktop setup each time…..
First world problems I know, but reducing friction is always good.

About the price thing that some people keep being sour about or downplaying it over other brands...

Take into consideration that Fractal Audio has less employees and they need paid obviously for their skills and time etc. It's a lot of work to bring happiness to people when you don't have a huge arsenal of employees compared to a bigger company that can afford to do it faster and perhaps less accuracy in some brands and that allows them to be able to release things at a lower price probably.

However with Fractal, you're getting the fractal sound and feel and accuracy that is well known and loved. You can't put a price on happiness right or so they say? ;)

One thing I know for sure is that they work their asses off daily to bring this stuff to you and more!

I’ve bought, but not sure how much I’ll use it, but like supporting Fractal…..wanted to try out plugins for a while, now I have an ‘excuse’ to do so!

And in addition to this, I think we fractal users are just spoiled by what we've got and what's constantly added for free in the hardware.

But for people new to Fractal and those used to plugins, this one looks to be pretty much in line with the competition price-wise... Or actually cheaper considering all the stuff it includes.
E.g. the UAD Paradise is somewhat a similar concept, but for 200$ it offers less than half amps, cabs are just a bunch of single IRs and effects choice I think is more limited too.
But people consider it a bargain cuz compared to their silly one-trick-pony hardware pedals it costs a lot less.

PS: and let's not talk about Neural plugins...

I think some of us are forgetting how expensive many popular plugins are. NDSP Archetype Petrucci, for example, is $177 USD, and seemingly has a fraction of effects/amps/cabs that this first ICONIC release does.

Personally, I would have preferred selecting the amps on an a la carte basis - a few Few Fenders (Deluxe, Twin), a few `Marshalls (Plexi, JCM800), a Vox, an EVH, and Soldano. Nonetheless, of course I’m going to buy all the ICONS. Having Fractal as a Plugin is a dream come true and will make recording, at least for me, less stressful since I can concentrate on getting a good performance instead of recording DI tracks plus Amp/Fx tracks.

I’m actually very interested in the plugin for two main reasons:

1. Stealth mode: My wife won't even realize I’ve bought yet another Fractal product. Plugins stay nicely hidden inside my Mac! ;)
2. Desk space: It takes up much less room on my desk, which is already overflowing with Kemper and NDSP gear.

However, I’d like some reassurance on a few points:
• Longevity: Is there any kind of guarantee that the plugin will be supported for the next 10 years? I want to make sure it doesn't just vanish like a certain famous reverb plugin did.
• Updates: Will the plugins receive the same level of care and free updates as the hardware does, at least for several years?

On my wishlist:
I’d love to see an "all-in-one" plugin with a single license—one interface where I can mix and match any effects, amps, and cabs I want. If that’s not on the roadmap, I’ll just wait for a specific pack that really grabs me, like an "American Best-Of."
That said, if I end up spending €300 on multiple bundles over the years, I really hope they won't be abandoned down the line.

Note on licensing:
I am perfectly happy with the iLok system. I’ve never had an issue with it, and I probably have tens of thousands of euros worth of licenses on there from 15 years of "compulsive" buying! :)

Out of curiosity, is there a way to calibrate the input level using a sine wave?
Neural DSP says they base their input on a 1vp sine wave sent to an interface and adjusting the input gain to hit -13dbfs.

I'm curious if Fractal does anything similar?
But no worries if it can't be revealed due to the secret sauce.
Thank you guys for the awesome products!

You can choose from several different guitar DI tracks in the calibration input section but no sine waves.

However you can add your own into calibration folder so it may be possible? @Admin M@ @samschachter ?

May I ask why you despise it?
I can only speak for myself... My issue with iLok was being forced to use a physical dongle. Since the physical iLok is no longer required and we are granted 2 activations I think that is more than fair. When I had a dedicated desktop and laptop I'd keep a physical iLok in my desktop while also activating a laptop. That way if I ever needed to have a second license I could just grab the physical iLok and take it with me. You can also shuttle the licenses around just move it back to the cloud then to another device.

This is a day I thought would never come!
I wanted to post first as a response to that recent comment on this forum which stated that Fractal Audio would never ever release a plugin, but I thought I'd leave it to you to find that topic and link back to here ;-)
in all fairness, how many times have we been told it would never happen?

I’ve been one of those consistently asking for it. Hell for all I know it may have been my comment.

I’m pretty damn excited about this! As soon as high gain models/collections drop, they’re mine.
