that deserves at standing ovation. Very well done.

Am I alone in keeping the Ultra????

Keeping the Ultra. I have had it for 2 years and it still makes me smile every time I turn it on and plug in. Although I can buy the II justifying the $700 difference is wait and see for me. $700 buys another decent microphone, IR's, etc... But, you never know one day I might hit that buy now.

AxeFx II (vs. Ultra) - has anybody actually heard it?

Although this isn't the correct sub forum for this discussion I will reply by saying the countdown stated "no one will be disappointed", clearly this is not the case. Reality is people will always be disappointed. Am I disappointed? Ultimately I will decide whether or not to buy the Axe II...

AxeFx II (vs. Ultra) - has anybody actually heard it?

Unfortunately this new release seems to be taking the Fractal community from "all for one and one for all" to "us and them". It's a shame if it continues in that direction.

    ULTRA R.I.P.?

I agree Henry. Metric Halo's dedication to "future proof" is why I never hesitated buying the ULN-8. The Ultra (which I am still a very happy owner of) is the 2nd most expensive piece of digital equipment I ever purchased next to the ULN-8 but currently have the feeling that although I will...

    Countdown 0.5...

thought about this a bit more and I am sticking with a major software upgrade, not hardware. It is the software where all the magic happens, the hardware only facilitates its ability to run.

    Countdown 0.5...

okay, I wasn't going to play along but here is my guess: major release of new firmware plus Axe Edit and a smaller / scaled down version of the MFC (not sure if anyone else speculated on this one yet). Not sure why a new Ultra would be released at this point as demand is still very high and a...

Can't get midi to connect. Motu fastlane macbook pro

I originally started out with a Fastlane and after a couple of months of frustration, sent it back, replaced it with a Midisport 2 x 2 anniversary and have had no issues since. Mac user.

    processed sounding?

well done! I actually checked the title of the song again to make sure it was "live". Processed? not to my ears.

    this footswitch is amazing!!!

I sent mine back a few weeks ago as I lost patience. I am hopeful they can get this thing to work as advertised, then I might come back to it. In the meantime, I will probably go with a Liquid Foot Jr. or RJM Mastermind but waiting on NAMM in January. Thought about the MFC but cannot justify...

    this footswitch is amazing!!!

Well at least there is a sign of hope. I haven't decided what I am going to do with mine. It may go back to the dealer I purchased it from. I'm not sure I will have the patience for this even though its "flexibility" and size initially swayed me to buy it. I may go the Gordius Little Giant 2...

    this footswitch is amazing!!!

here is a direct quote straight from Keith when I approached him regarding the delay in stand-alone mode - "We decided to implement most all of the functionality of the SoftStep hosted application into the standalone mode. Initially standalone was going to be a subset consisting of fixed...

    this footswitch is amazing!!!

I have not tried that route even though they say it should work. I decided to wait for the fix so I can get it to work (hopefully) the first time. Maybe I am getting too old to keep learning stuff? It is my understanding that Sara is the contact at the company to help with technical issues...

    this footswitch is amazing!!!

I did receive a reply from the company regarding standalone mode. I will ask them if it is ok to copy and post here. In essence, they decided to get standalone mode to have more functionality than originally planned. They are testing, working out the bugs and are "close" to its release. As...

    this footswitch is amazing!!!

Mine should be delivered this week. As I stated in a previous post there is supposed to be a software update to fix the issue with the midi expander. The latest update appears to be from 11/8. http://www.keithmcmillen.com/downloads/softstep/ Not sure if this is the one with the fix. An email...

    this footswitch is amazing!!!

ordered mine today. It is supposed to ship out to me on Tuesday. I am hopeful the fix for the midi expander will be available by the time I receive it. Will post my findings after I get it up and running.

    this footswitch is amazing!!!

I sent an email to the company yesterday asking the question when the midi expander would be operational with the SoftStep? They were apologetic and said it would be operational next week with an upcoming software download. Scott

    this footswitch is amazing!!!

I would encourage you to visit their website where they have a few videos. Also, the pedals can be programmed to simply be on/off switches for various effects or to select different patches. In addition the various pedals can be programmed to be pressure sensitive for controlling the amount of...

Has anyone tried this yet? It could have many additional uses in the studio controlling logic as well. Thanks, Scott

Really frustrated with the midi aspect

I may be a bit late with a reply, however, I had a MOTU Fastlane as well and it was one of the most frustrating pieces of equipment I have ever attempted to use. I had posted my issues on the forum and went back and forth with MOTU many times. It is good to see you were able to make yours...

    Floydish?

Here is my first post, the tune was written and recorded with one pass so please pardon the errors and quality of the mix. Anyhow, I ended up using the Solo 100 with my PRS Custom 24 for lead. I have found this sim to be quite versatile by adjusting the drive. Hope you enjoy, thanks. Scott...
