    Wish Way Huge Red Llama

The Way Huge Red Llama uses an unbuffered CMOS inverter to produce a warm, fuzzy overdrive sound. I built a clone of it a while back (well before my Axe-Fx days), and it got a fair bit of use. I don't think this is covered by any of the existing drive pedals, although I'm happy to be corrected...

So it looks like the B7K Ultra V2 has a loadable Cab Sim IR function - I can't see this being replicated in the drive block. Everything else seems to be covered by the existing tone-sculpting tools in the drive block (although I'm happy to be corrected). Low-cut is equivalent to the Grunt...

It sounds like ghost notes. Increase the B+ Time Constant in the amp Power Supply tab. You can make them really prominent by turning the B+ Time Constant down low, if that's your thing (I suspect it isn't). https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/ghost-notes.126903/

Axe-Fx III vs The real deal tube amp

Glad it's helped - sounds like you're on the right path! It's funny, I thought I was selecting relatively bright IRs (or at least I skipped through a whole lot of darker IRs). But glad that whatever I picked worked for you. It's so easy to focus on the amps and forget that the IR is equally (if...

Axe-Fx III vs The real deal tube amp

There's a lot of low end missing in that clip, which might explain why it feels 'forward' and gritty. Playing around to try and get a similar tone I ended up with a Low Cut in the Cab Block at around 330Hz. IR choice is going to be a large part of replicating that clip as well. I could get...

Issues making P90s work with Axe-Fx

How are you monitoring the Axe-FX? You've got the room level turned up quite high in the cab block, which may be impacting on perceived clarity. IRs will also play a huge role on overall sound - have you experimented with different IRs? I don't have a real Dumble in front of me, so take my...

Effects to supplement your AxeFX 3?

I've never felt the need to add anything. There may be some very particular pedals that you find you can't replicate (e.g. some people will use an outboard Digitech Freqout pedal), but on the whole the effects are top-notch. If it's modelled in the Axe-Fx, chances are you'll be very happy with...

    Axe-Fx 3 MK3?

The problem with the II-T was that you only got one sort of power tube. I believe the Axe-Fx III Mark III will have internal robotics that will swap over a bank of power tubes depending on the scene/preset. Modelling can't get realer than that.

The REAL Mesa Boogie Mark IIC++

Different tapers implies that you have the same maximum and minimum gain, but the behaviour of the control is different between the model and the real amp as you move between maximum and minimum. Why does Fractal let Dealers out side the USA Rip users off so much ?

This thread was specifically about Axe FX III prices in Australia, and I think it's been pretty clearly shown that distributors aren't making huge profits off sales in Australia. Fractal don't go through a retail distributor in the US, hence US customers don't need to pay all the overheads...

Why does Fractal let Dealers out side the USA Rip users off so much ?

Take the non-sale price of the Axe FX III from the Fractal website ($2500USD), adding 5% import duty and then 10% GST on top of that, and that gives you $2887USD, or $3722AUD. Pretty darn close to the $3908AUD that Independent Music are charging for the Axe Fx III in Australia.
  30. Andy G

Why does Fractal let Dealers out side the USA Rip users off so much ?

I mean, yes, it's not a 1:1 exchange rate, but we still tend to pay more for musical instruments in Australia. Just the price to pay for being in a country with a relatively small market and with dealers needing to cover shipping and import costs. That aside, when you consider the cost of...

    Help With Sudden Noise/Distortion Problem

From your description, it sounds like some sort of external interference, but it's a bit hard to tell without more info. What happens if you turn the input Noise Gate off? Is it constant background noise rather than the 'chirp like' sound you describe after single notes?

    Reamping only reamps effects?

If your DAW can route audio to USB 7/8, then you can use the dedicated IN USB block to reamp instead of changing input source on the Axe Fx. Currently there is no audio coming through your IN USB block.
  35. Andy G

    Reamping only reamps effects?

What is your USB 5/6 input level set to? (Setup>I/O>USB/AES) You're getting very, very low input when you're reamping. I don't think there are issues with 'only reamping effects', it's just that the input level is so low that you aren't getting any distortion from the amp.

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 14.05

I was initially very disappointed with the sound from the Blackglass 7K (on default tone settings). You have to play around with the various controls, but once you do, it sounds pretty good. I think the default settings aren't very representative of the drive model as a whole.
  40. Andy G

    Struggling with Tones!

That cab supposedly has a frequency response of 80Hz-5kHz, which leaves a whole lot of stuff above 5khz that you won't be hearing until you go direct to FOH. We also don't know whether that cab has a relatively flat response between 80Hz-5kHz - I would be willing to bet that it doesn't. As...

Can I clone an Overdrive/Distortion effect?

Nice! There should be plenty of drive models that cover both the treble booster and tube screamer (presuming that's what the Ibanez/Maxon pedals are), at least as a really good starting point. You could set up a preset with a looper and switch between your custom pedals and the Axe Fx III drive...
  45. Andy G

Can I clone an Overdrive/Distortion effect?

You can't clone a drive pedal like you are suggesting. What you can do however, is find a drive model that is closest to your custom pedal, tweak this model to get as close as you can, and then do a tone match to get you even closer. Should give you pretty good results. Out of curiosity, what...

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 12.10

I was thinking that the high G sounded slightly flat. But regardless, there are plenty of other amps that do edge-of-breakup without excessive crossover distortion. There is also a lot of background buzz in that recording, and this may contribute to your sense of there being 'excess distortion'.

I don't think digital vs analog has much to do with it, except that the digital guitar modeller market is an evolving one, and companies will generally try and remain competitive. This could be through product updates (i.e. firmware), product upgrades/diversification (i.e. FM3) or pricing...

I have the Beyer DT880 250ohm, and while they're certainly quieter than some other headphones (such as Shure SRH840), they get uncomfortably loud with Output 1 volume anywhere close to full. As a way of helping deal with the sometimes overwhelming number of IRs, it would be helpful to be able to combine search terms within Manage Cabs.
