I am not using the twins speaker at all. I am trying to connect my axe II XL+ to the front of my Fender twin (no fx loop) to use the effects. The amp is connected to a radial load box that I want to re-rout back into the axe using the radial JDX direct out so I can better control the volume through the P.A. and also use the axe amp...

Running 2 axe fx 2 at the same time using 1 MFC

So I am running an XL + into an MRK 2 set up so far like this, MFC 3 into the axe XL+ via Econ then the XL + into the MRK2 via 5 pin midi. MFC control port VS Faslink

So whats the difference between the 2? they both control the mfc and send power. I use the MFC control port with an econ cable and it works fine is the faslink well faster? I read about them both and I didn't see any difference, seems redundant.

has the axe replaced everything or not?

Yes, for me at least the ax has made me a better player by learning more about how amps, cabs and effects all work together and I practice way more because I can get any sound I want, (at bedroom vol) I play a variety of music from Metallica to SRV I love my AXE.

    axe edit timing out

that's good to know I thought maybe it was just me.
  21. wildolympic

Delays and reverb .... Parallel or series ?

Yes, the mix and levels are different if it's in series I believe you keep the mix below 50% and in parallel you use the input to control the wet amount. I still prefer to run it in parallel even though Fractal says there is no difference, so I guess it comes down to personal preference...

Delays and reverb .... Parallel or series ?

usually in parallel, but on something like voodoo child or ( Voodoo Chile) if you prefer, I like it in series it seems to be closer in terms of tone/sound.

    Favorite Delay settings for leads

something I like to do is use a dual delay and set one delay at 100 and one at 120 or 110 it gives a real nice thick cascading effect you can tweek it to taste.

Trying to get a tone similar to a song

I agree with Geezer, I find out as much info I can about what gear the Guitarist is using and I copy as much of it I can, it works really well for me, It can be difficult guitarist like to keep some things secret, if there's little info try watching videos and look for at least amps and cabs.

    AXE XL+

This is a question for a moderator really, I am wondering if the XL+ has more cpu power than the mk II?. In other words will it handle more amps, cabs and effects at once? (see inserted pic), I am running the cabs in stereo I would prefer ultra-res, the reverb's are set to high quality and I...

. yes, on certain patches I run in series and some in parallel just for that reason (to have no reverb on my delay) but I do find my self doing it on patches that probably don't need it. maybe it's just habit or like I said maybe it's all in my head but I just seem to prefer it that way:) P.S...

shit! your right my tone knobs are all at 5 I must have overlooked that, I was reading from a how to eq book and must have skipped right to the eq page. (what a dumbass) that's probably why the mids are so high. I never thought about cutting from 0 I always boost (the guitar is a mid range...

I tried doing it the series/mix and level way and I just don't care for it, it seems to make things muddy, (maybe it's all in my head) but I do appreciate your input.
  58. wildolympic

    Carol-Ann

I find that running the reverb in parallel sort of softens the reverb, I find it sits in the mix better, the dry signal continues straight to the cab and the parallel mix blends with the dry so its sort of a dry, wet, dry, signal I usually run the reverb at the end of the chain (see below) and...

  62. wildolympic

Just like in the (real world) if you wanted to comp someone else's sound you would by all of the equipment ie amp, pedals ect, that they use, so I re-search what (your guitarist here) uses right down to the placement of there effects in the signal chain, and the rest is figuring out the...

    Sounds you can't get?

I too have a hard time dialing in a good fuzz, what works for me is I run it first in the chain in parallel and crank everything up and use the mix or level knob to keep it from howling at you. This is probably a long shot, but does any one have any good 1x6 IR's I have only the one that came with my stock axe 2 mrk 2, I use them to tighten up a tubby base, I find it works really well for old zep tones Thanks Tim.

I would like to see a dedicated forum just for effects, just a general how to use them, what the effect does, what the knobs do, what is the most common use (settings) and whats not, how to use them in combinations, using the MFC to control different parameters, there are so many combinations...

    Live mode sounds bad

I'm trying to run in live mode, I set the audio in and out's to use the axe as my audio device, I bypass the cab block and load an IR and the sound is horrible, even if I lower the buffer size it sounds like it's clipping really bad any ideas. Thanks Tim.

    Help with pitch detune please.

    Thanks Chris.
  87. wildolympic

    Help with pitch detune please.

So as I understand it, 100 cents = 1 semitone, so if I wanted to be at concert pitch A=440 and I wanted to drop 1 semitone (1 half step) I would need to drop 100 cents but the axe only goes to +/- 50 cents so I cannot for instance tune to E and use the pitch detune to go to E flat.
  88. wildolympic

Do you feel like I do?

I can see where you are coming from, I guess for me it's more about everything being compact with less cables and power sources, and packing it around rearranging the effects, and oops one of the knobs got bumped, I felt I was always tweaking the pedals with the axe I can set it and forget it.
