Can Someone Tell me One Good Reason

A quick update; As suspected, utilizing Thunderbolt to connect the Apogee Symphony to the Mac and changing the clock source to AES/SPDIF. As soon as the unit was connected via Thunderbolt and the clocking changed, the digital pops and clicks disappeared. Haven't worked on re-amping yet...

    Recommended Firmware Update: 11.03

After installing 11.o I was a bit disappointed with how the patches sounded. Soooo, since I was in the studio for two weeks recording acoustic I figured it could wait. Then, I got home and low and behold 11.3 magically appeared. Loaded it up and BAM, the Axe FX II sounds absolutely incredible...

    Get Yer 11.0 Beta Here!

I am hearing the FW 11.0 includes a emulation called "KPA Mode". Basically, the unit freezes up when in Performance mode. Can anyone confirm? (Sorry, that was bad).

Can Someone Tell me One Good Reason

Unfortunately, Apogee Symphony does not allow itself to be clocked eternally in USB Mode. I believe one option for doing this is in Audio Interface Mode using Thunderbolt. Need to check into it a bit more. But with USB, can't do it. :(

Starting with the Output from the Fractal Axe FX II 1. Symphony I/O is set to 48 kHz Sample Rate. 2. Axe FX II input source is set to Input 1 - Guitar plugged into front Inst. jack. 3. SPiDF/AES Source set to AES Axe FX AES signal being fed to Symphony I/O AES 1/2 and routed to Output 1/2...

Can Someone Tell me One Good Reason

Why the Axe FX II can't be set to slave off of a master clock? All I ask, is one "good" reason.... :) In my studio, I have an Apogee Symphony 8x8 I/O. The Symphony's internal clock is said to be equivalent to the Apogee Big Ben, a great clock, but can not be set up to slave off of the Axe Fx...

Ready to Pull Trigger, need advice.....

One of the best sounding "smallish"m monitors I have used are the Focal CMS 50 0r CMS 65's. IMO, they are spectacular for their size. A bit pricy, but worth the money for a small home studio.

    FW10.11b and 10.12

I find FW 11b to be very stable. Only problem I had was with the MacOS driver v1.28. 11b sounds better than anything I have heard from the Axe FX II earlier versions or any other manufacturers product currently available.

    FW 11b is MAGIC

Or at least a retina display instead of that 1990 whatever it is LCD panel. Let's move into the present. :)

    High end audio interface

In my studio, I am running an Apogee Symphony I/O 8x8 an A Designs Pacifica pre. The converters and sound are amazing. In the past I used lower end interfaces and the difference once I got the Symphony was night and day.

Axe FX FW 11b vs Kemper Profiler

Got to compare my Axe FX w/ FW 11b against Kemper Profiler this afternoon. We were playing fairly clean with a bit of gritty country stuff/ Axe FX II FW 11B sounded far better. FW 11b is rocking my world right now. My buddy left practice dejected muttering something about placing an order...

New Axe FX II - Locking up every few minutes!

Whatever caused it, it's been several hours and it is still working. I hate messing with technology, takes time away from the real stuff that we call "life".

New Axe FX II - Locking up every few minutes!

Now that's really interesting... Its been over an hour and no freeze ups. Since I updated the drivers, I do have the Axe FX connected to the MacBook Pro via USB Cable. It's working so I am not questioning the gods. :)

New Axe FX II - Locking up every few minutes!

Yek, I went back and downloaded the 1.67. I see that in my downloads file there is both 1.67 and 1.68. So in all honesty, I can't definitively confirm which was actually installed. Now 1.67 is installed and running. I also installed FW Ver. 11b. So far it's been a few minutes, I have browsed...

New Axe FX II - Locking up every few minutes!

Just turned it on again this am. Within 1 minute the temp light stops flashing and the Axe is locked up. I have reinstalled the Firmware and Drivers at least 4 times maybe 5. Still no dice. MJ

New Axe FX II - Locking up every few minutes!

Yes, after I started trying to determine the cause, I unplugged the USB cable, restarted the AXE FX II and within 1 minute it had stopped again. I am using Mac OS 10.8.4. Thanks MJ

New Axe FX II - Locking up every few minutes!

I received a new AXE FX II today. It arrived with Firmware Ver. 10.11. I loaded the Mac drivers and hooked it up to my guitar/MacBook Pro Retina via USB and within a few minutes it locks up. I turn it off and then on and it immediately comes back on line. After switching between a few...

    Are you tired of FRFR?

And that you do tone pilgrim. My journey this week has shown me that a combination of the traditional cabinet and FRFR speaker/cab provides a tradition "amp-like" feel, and amazing tonal range/clarity of the frfr. For me, one without the other in combination with the Axe FX II is just not...

    Are you tired of FRFR?

Update No. 2 So I just got done at the sound check. I am in a Starbucks having a no-fat latte and watching the talent. :) Here's the story. The two CLR wedges Chris was using for his monitors are amazing. They are clear crisp and clean with amazing tonal range. I started off on the floor in...

    Are you tired of FRFR?

An interesting update.... Grabbed the Axe FX II and spent the afternoon yesterday at GC. I hooked up to various PA speaker (more on that in a moment) and some 1x12, 2x12 and 4x12 cabs. Really wasn't interested in the 4x12 but it was fun, wish I have more room in the studio. Using the Matrix...

    Are you tired of FRFR?

This seems to be common amongst those who really like their sound. I called a buddy a few minutes ago, he is about 45 minutes south of me and invited me over to play on Saturday. He has two CLR cabs and said he loves them so much he sold his cabs. I am certainly very excited to see what everyone...

OK, so to further this discussion.... I am using some very nice gear... Andersen S Matrix GT1000FX One of the big three FRFR 1x12 cabs. I have been playing for a very long time, I have and do gig live and studio record, most smaller venues these days as "I ain't as good as I once...

In Studio, REALLY want AXE FX II to clock from Converter/Interface or Word Clock

Using the Axe FX II in the studio. We want to have the Axe FX II use the Word Clock or the Audio Interface. From what I see and have read, this doesn't seem possible. Is there any reason why? It just seems to me that this is an important feature for studio work where the Axe is being used...

    I ordered a Line6 L3M! Review to come soon!

Someone tested the L3t against the Yamaha DSR 112 and Matrix Q12 over on the Kemper Forum. Reported that the L3t sounded thin against the other two and the Q12/GT1000FX was the best to his ear.

Any Matrix users in the Tampa, FL area???

Wish I could help but I am in Palm Beach. I purchased the GT1000FX 2U (just arrived recently), it has a very low level fan noise, barely noticeable. For studio use, I would recommend the 2U version. Bottom line, I love the amp and how it sounds. Jake
