    FM9 USB Firmware V 1.02 Release

So I went a while without using the FM9 as an interface just due to life/convenience of having an interface that doesn't drop audio, but I decided to give it a whirl tonight having recently installed the latest firmware. Sure enough, loaded up the next Beato interview in queue on Youtube (Vai...

    FM9 USB Firmware V 1.02 Release

Appreciate these suggestions! I'm assuming you mean msinfo32.exe? I don't have anything called msoinfo32.exe and all searches suggest removing the "O" in "MSO". However, still no luck finding any error messages in either this or the Event Viewer. I used the FM9 as my audio interface last...

    FM9 USB Firmware V 1.02 Release

For the record, this was not "stuttering". The video playback is 100% fine, the FM9 loses ALL USB audio from the PC; including system sounds. Unplugging the USB and plugging it back in does not resolve the issue, the FM9 must be fully rebooted. The video keeps playing sans audio, without...

    FM9 Firmware Version 6.00 public beta (1)

Thank you for this, so far gapless switching is everything I'd hoped for! Simplifies a bunch of my presets, and I'm going to have to rethink how I want to approach this moving forward (in a welcomed, exciting way!).

    FM9 USB Firmware V 1.02 Release

I've had the USB audio dropout issue occur sporadically with my FM9, but lately I've noticed it almost exclusively happens if I'm playing videos/audio on youtube in Chrome through it, and it's possible this has always been the culprit. This very consistently causes the dropout. I usually...

    FM9 Firmware Version 3.00 public beta 1

This is kind of weird but repeatable: in preset 275 - Dual Clean or 118 Jim and Leo, the amp panned right is making a bunch of static-y, oscillating noise shortly after booting up the FM9. It doesn't matter if the preset is selected at boot or not, and it's only happening in the right channel...

FM9 Firmware Version 2.01 public beta

Just have to say kudos on this update. I had very little issue with beta 2.00, totally gig worthy and had no complaints. Was getting more compliments than ever before, and everybody thought I was using a head tucked away (busy stage, opening act, etc). But already there's just a level of...

    Occasional Scratchy Audio over USB

Glad to see it's not just me, thanks for the input everyone. Interesting to see this across Mac and Windows, I wasn't expecting that. When I posted this, I had it happen right on boot which was a first for me as it usually occurs after a while (no sleep mode, but just general inactivity). I...

    Occasional Scratchy Audio over USB

Prior to owning the FM9, I basically used my Axe FX II as my primary sound card for my Windows 10 PC (hooked up to monitors, seems pointless to have dedicated PC speakers as well). Being that I record over USB as well, this worked fantastically and I never had any issues with this setup. Now...

Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 2.00 Firmware Release

I want to preface by saying any and all updates to the II in any form are amazing, and virtually unprecedented for a company like this. But I recall Cliff saying the opposite, and that amp models are not part of the memory problem. It sounded like the issue was there isn't enough memory to run...

My weirdest tech issue with the Axe-Fx III so far

I use the Axe-Fx II as my only audio interface on Windows 7 and this happens all of the time. I've fixed this every time by right-clicking the audio icon in the lower right tray, selecting "Playback devices", and then disabling and re-enabling the Axe in the pop-up window. This usually resumes...

    Spain

Finally breaking in my new axe for a track, an Eastman T186MX. Using the "Cork Sniffers" preset straight up. This has a lot of slop, but it's the way she goes! Thanks to Simon Peter King for the excellent backing track.

Axe-Fx III: Carry Case / Gig Bag Options and Ideas

Just to chime in on the gator rack bags... I've got the 4U with my II XL+, GT1000FX and Furman. It's probably one of the best purchases I've made for portability. Came from a EWI case which is also great, but about 80 lbs heavier. The shoulder strap is a little sketchy, but the built on...

    Reaper Sounds Like Crap?

I believe Moke nailed it. You need to make sure you've specified the reaper track to be stereo. If I recall, you do this by specifying the stereo input for the Axe. I think sonar does this a little more automatically, but I forget. Once you have the stereo track recording correctly, you...

    IR tone

I'm just curious: is this during IR processing (as in applied in the cab block to all IRs during use), or just when you are capturing/creating IRs?

Why do I suck at using the AXE 2 as an interface?

I second this, I've used my Axe as an interface and my amp on both a powerful computer and a very weak computer with equally excellent results. If anything, using the Axe as both eliminates the need to compensate for latency, as that's all handled for you. I'd investigate making sure you're...

Why do downloaded user presets sound different on my set-up?

Excellent! Definitely keep tweaking. If you're set on the Friedman, I'd recommend trying a few different cab types to see if you get closer. For that kind of Marshall-mod type sound I like the cabs a few blocks up from this one, Tv Mix C1 and C4. It can be hard changing cabs, because it...

Why do downloaded user presets sound different on my set-up?

Just checked out your preset. What I found as the biggest culprit to that muffled sound were the changes you made in the cab block for low and high cut. I know that gets recommended all of the time on here, but I really dislike doing that. I'd rather do that post Axe-Fx, or on a need to have...

Strange behavior in 6.02 [FIXED in 6.03]

Thanks for this. I've been watching this thread closely and holding off on updating, but I decided to try and help out and upgraded my XL+ to repeat these steps. I was not able to get my unit to freeze, I tried 10 full rotations through all 768 presets. My unit was purchased 11/14/16.

I bet you cannot match this tone

Exactly. This is just one of those classic examples of the tone being in the fingers. He's got a killer touch. I'm a high gain guy through and through, but the truth is you can really blur a lot of lines with high gain tones with heavy tweaking (not to take anything away from anybody, it's...

I bet you cannot match this tone

5 minutes of tweaking Matt's preset to change the amp and cab to something that sounds closer to me (for the record he was demonstrating complex harmony changes with a footswitch, not how close he could match this tone). Is it 100%? No, but I bet it'd be pretty close in the hands of the fella...

Wow! Samsung is buying Harman (AKG, Lexicon, JBL, Digitech, etc)!!!

Time to move operations up to VT, where its actually getting increasingly harder to find those swill beers in a restaurant (no complaints from me), even the big chains carry decent local stuff! A tiny gas station near my house carries some of the best beer I've ever drank.

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 6.00 Firmware Released

Cliff you are the man! Thanks a ton for rolling up the sleeves and working out a solution where everybody is happy. Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 6.00 Public Beta

None of what I'm about to write is at all critical, I'm a very strong Fractal supporter and extremely grateful for years of updates. But just throwing in my two cents since it seems we've hit the edge (was hoping the last update bought a lot more space). I think the debate about the old...

Kiesel Guitar Solo Contest (FAS Modern + ML Cab pack 13)

    AAL - An Infinite Regression

Hi Nikk© This is actually a cover of a tune by the amazing Animals As Leaders: If you've never checked them out, their whole catalog is a plethora of killer, creative work. The technique is what bass players call "double thumping", and one that Tosin from Animals has popularized on guitar...

    AAL - An Infinite Regression

Been working on this one for a LONG time! Still a long way to go in consistency and tightness with this technique, but this was a helpful checkpoint and decent enough that I thought I'd share. I don't necessarily love my tones here (dialed in super fast), but FAS Modern is king of this kind of...

Dream Theater - Forsaken w/ Axe Fx II XL (In love with the Quantum Firmware) Patches inlcuded

Mikko, There aren't stems for SC that I know of, but I've come across quite a few guitar-free backing tracks using the original tracks. They did a 5.1 release for this album that has decent separation of the instruments. People have cross-phased these tracks with the stereo mix to get pretty...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 1.00 Public Beta

Not asking for a beta update because there's already way too much awesomeness to play with, but I just wanted to voice the opposite opinion from a happy user. As a player who got used to the sound and feel of newer recto's, I've personally come to prefer it and really enjoy the Recto 2 over the...

Dual Rectifier comparison (real vs axe fx)

Isn't the slave out signal just the preamp? I would assume that's why it's substantially thinner. I've always used the line-out from my loadbox (THD Hotplate) when using IRs with a real head as the slave out always sounded pretty thin. I've gotten killer results this way when I didn't have...

    The Ballad Of John Henry

Thanks for listening and the kind words everybody! Not a stock patch, but a very simple one. I've attached the rhythm and lead versions below, I'm pretty sure they're the same except for the delay on the lead, but I might have tweaked here and there. I was looking for an amp with really...

Lines In The Sand Solo/interlude - FW 18.06 TX Star Lead!

Definitely lots of volume knob usage to control the gain. Everything except the last riff (which was the MkIV because it's a heavier riff) was this one patch, so all of the variance is from volume knob and pickup selector. I tweaked it throughout the recording EQ wise, but only very minor to...

Totally! Ears not eyes really went a long way on this one. I'll post the patch tonight or tomorrow for those interested, but mileage may vary as it sounds a little weird with all of my other guitars. Very simple, FW18 handles the heavy lifting for you :)

Lines In The Sand Solo/interlude - FW 18.06 TX Star Lead!

Thanks everybody :) The cab I used was the 2x12 TX Star M160 (#19). I had to use some pretty extreme settings to tame the bass, but I think that was an artifact of using the strat and doing most of the intro solo using the bridge/middle combo!

Lines In The Sand Solo/interlude - FW 18.06 TX Star Lead!

Found the "real" backing track for this (Jammit) and decided to do a run through of it. One of my favorite JP solos! I used the same Lonestar patch for the lead (I was lazy and busted out a real wah though) and all of the rhythm sections, this amp is just killer G3'd. So much mojo and...

Question about running a real drive pedal in front

Hey guys, I have a question about running an OD/distortion pedal in front of the Axe. Should I make adjustments to the "Instr In" setting in I/O to compensate for the drive pedal, or would this counter the effect of the drive? I just notice that with a hot pedal in front it's sticking on...

    FW14 Rectos...

As an owner of a 2001 3-channel Triple recto, I have to say that using my "usual" settings on Recto 2 worked out perfectly. Loving that the presence is now like the amp and intuitive. I've never had a problem dialing in the rectos on the Axe, but it's great now that it's 1:1 for me.
