Tommy Stinson - Guns N' Roses (Better) Bass Sound TM (Any Interest?)

Just finishing up my tone match of the bass from the Chinese Democracy track Better. Not quite there yet, but, should be ready by tomorrow. Any interest in this one? I know I need to get my other patches up, but, wasn't sure how much interest there'd be :)

A clip from the next Axe-FX 2 Direct "Faux GNR"-Fest

Ha :) yeah we threw that line in for fun, seeing as we are very obviously "creating a recreation" we thought people might get a chuckle outta that :)! With regards to phase etc, this is nowhere near mixed yet. I just laughed on the other thread when someone said they wouldn't believe it until...

A clip from the next Axe-FX 2 Direct "Faux GNR"-Fest

2 clips from the next Axe-FX 2 Direct "Faux GNR"-Fest I only call it faux GNR on here because...lets be honest, we all know what sound we're going for, but, its still original music - so we're at least an original tribute if nothing else haha. This is VERY early in the mix process as you'll...

I'm pretty sure if Guns N' Roses had Axe-FX in 1991...

So this is an iPhone memo (holding my Iphone toward my speakers lol, so don't expect general Fractal tone goodness just yet as you can't really differentiate) but I HAD to post this line, I'm sitting here mixing this track today and thought i'd see if I could get anyone to raise an eyebrow...

I'm pretty sure if Guns N' Roses had Axe-FX in 1991...

Thanks guys! In more GNR Geek fashion I just had a bit of an epiphany that I feel a total fool for not realizing sooner. Slash completely kills his tone pot on the neck pickup to get that super warm sound (November Rain first two solos etc) for some reason I was so intent on screwing with the...

You're too kind sir! - I'm not in front of my Axe right now but i'll grab at least that stuff for now before I finish up the patches and put them on here tonight for you to tinker around with :) Fun side note, I actually have the guys that played horns on the Slash's Blues Ball tour on one...

I'm pretty sure if Guns N' Roses had Axe-FX in 1991...

...and for everyone that has stuck around, here is a couple of clips (mashed down into short bursts clearly) of one of the new songs i'm doing with Robert (Warrant/Ozzy/Lynch Mob/Cry of Love) - this is TOTALLY unmixed and raw so its gonna be fun to show the finished product. ALL guitars are Axe...

Thank you! :) i'm not much of an Engineer but the tracks don't sound too bad for sitting around on my mac one Sunday afternoon I guess. Still, if we could just wipe out everyones memory and convince them GNR never existed, i'm pretty sure this band could get signed....hahaha.

I'm pretty sure if Guns N' Roses had Axe-FX in 1991...

Lol! Yeah...its bizarre isnt it?... thats what makes doing it so fun for me... I kinda get to disconnect myself from what i'm doing and say "OK Clearly i'm trying to make this sound like someone else...so...what would they do here...." - which is actually a great learning tool for picking up...

I'm pretty sure if Guns N' Roses had Axe-FX in 1991...

He sings in a GNR Tribute that plays full time, so, searching him down isnt too hard :) but he's pretty damn good huh? scary thing is the way he write is like Axl, he's not just some soundalike. Dude knows who he learned from and he absolutely arranges his parts the way way when he wants to...

I'm pretty sure if Guns N' Roses had Axe-FX in 1991...

Just in case anyone thinks the "Axl Thing" is all effects (see AutoTune comment earlier hehe) Here is a demo we're screwing around with right now. This is COMPLETELY raw, COMPLETELY unmixed, COMPLETELY clean (except some verb on the vocals) SCRATCH vocal tracks (writing tracks, NOT takes) all...

I'm pretty sure if Guns N' Roses had Axe-FX in 1991...

I will post some presets, I am currently working on a couple of them - if you listen to the UYI tone throughout, there are tweaks as the record progresses from song to song. Pretty Tied Up is different to Civil War is different to Bad Apples etc...so, i'll post a bunch by the time i'm done with...

I'm pretty sure if Guns N' Roses had Axe-FX in 1991...

Ran it through Nectar and it did some weird things on the vocal FX ...nothing major and no real correction but definitely some odd things that I couldn't be bothered to go over. We did this in our down time, if you want no fx whatosever, wait on my CD with Robert Mason :)

I'm pretty sure if Guns N' Roses had Axe-FX in 1991...

lol! I wrote the song originally as an instrumental (all guitar/band) then Chad (the singer) wrote a vocal melody for it. I took his melody, rearranged and composed a new song behind it, and hey presto. All bass, all guitars are Axe-FX direct.

....it would sound sorta like this. Though....with a much bigger budget than I have hahahaha :) Be patient, its my 6 minute wannabe epic, dammit..it takes time rofl :) Even if i'm the only person amused by it, I had a helluva lot of fun making this one. Hope someone appreciates the tones...

ProgressiveRoccos Panama tweaked a little (just a clip before I upload - thoughts?)

First off to progressiverocco - I love the patch, thanks for putting it up for us all to use. I've been messing around with it a little, took the original track, panned it left, took the tweaked amp block and played along with it, panned it right. Can't tell much difference, can you...

    Ultra "Stone In Love" sounds

Hopefully we'll be back through Atlanta before too long. Departure is actually from Atlanta (I think) so you'll see them more frequently than us, as we tour nationally, for some stupid reason lol. Our singer actually has a platinum record with the real Journey, long, weird story so it gives us a...

    Ultra "Stone In Love" sounds

Man I need to track down the video of that one (CTTL).....that was Houston last year I think at HOB but that was also while using a GT6 and a Marshall, so the tone wouldn't do much for me to repost at this point...I do have a video that I never posted of me on stage playing that song WITH the...
