i think the problem is the solidstate power amp... ill try it into a buddies triple rec soon.. tones sound fine at lower volumes but go to shit at high volumes :(

Only thing is I don't have an interface so you're gonna have to tell me which bank your patch (or the patch) is on in axe-change and i'll duplicate it onto my amp. Using EMG 81, axe fx standard and a carvin dcm1000L power amp into a mesa TRADITIONAL 4x12 rectifier cabinet... not the oversized...

absolutely impossible... if i just stick to page 1 and 2 the tones are terrible... I just tried chris broderick's patch that he uses for rhythm you can see the settings on his rig tour video and i copied them and that's the only way i could get a good tone was by setting up the advanced...

global eq's are all flat, ive only tried the pvh 5105 so far.. haven't touched anything advanced just page 1 and 2 but im just shocked that I'm most likely gonna have to go into these "advanced" settings to get a "basic" tone.

it's just a harsh sound... upper mid range maybe.. i don't think anythings wrong I guess it's just i never realized how hard it would be to get a simple high gain sound out of it.

why would I want to disable the power amp sims? I'm using a PA power amp and everyone's told me to keep them on... I've made some half decent clean patches... sounds like I can hear my fret buzz through the amp (i hope it's fret buzz!) but the distortion tones are god awful!

lol... very funny.. ive got the proper stuff in terms of power amp sims on, cabs off... i went through the stock presets and found a few nice clean tones... very good, but haven't been able to get anywhere NEAR a good distortion tone

well for me there'd be no difference really because I'm using everything in mono with the axe fx... no stereo sounds... I'm just confused at all the settings on this... it's more overwhelming then I already thought it would be.... I took a patch, shunted everything than just went TS808OD -...

Ya the one thing I noticed about edges sound is his picks must be special or something because he gets this sorta dirty scratched sound on all his notes, or maybe it's just a very thin pick which ive never liked.

Will I ditch my ENGL Invader for an Ultra

Misha Mansoor's rig was an ENGL invader, maxon overdrive, keeley compressor, and a orange ppc412... (he told me his 2nd favorite cab to use is the mesa traditional 412) and he now uses the axe fx... if you take the time to learn about the axe fx unit then you'll most likely get a power amp and...

Just got my Carvin DCM1000L... come in if you're buying a carvin DCM series.

Well I don't have the axe fx yet.. just the carvin in its case waiting! I'll tell you when I get it... I heard Cliff sold his vht for a carvin dcm because it weighed so much less and sounded very similar so that makes me happy!

If there was no Fractal Audio, what would your rig be?

I had my "dream rig" which was simple before selling to fund my on the way axe fx... Maxon OD808, ISP Decimator, Peavey 5150, Mesa traditional 412. I've still got the mesa cab, gonna replicate the 5150 and OD with the axe hopefully.

Just got my Carvin DCM1000L... come in if you're buying a carvin DCM series.

I just received my Carvin DCM1000L via UPS and noticed the bridge button is in very far, thought it was broken because of shipping or something, apparently it's the way it is so you or someone else doesn't accidentally hit the button so don't freak out like I did!

I just ordered a Carvin DCM1000L and if I can cancel it I'm wondering if I should and buy a used Peavey Valveking head to use as a poweramp... I came from using a 5150 and I believe I may even get better tone with the valveking power section... what are your guys' thoughts?

What amp/rack stands do u use with axe fx

I ordered a road warrior 4 space by Carvin.. don't see why people are using these stands and having the axe in front of them facing them.. you wouldn't do that with a real amp would you? but it's probably beacuse they want access to the axe fx controls and don't have a tall enough cab to rest it on!

Not gonna lie, I was never super blown away by as i lay dyings album tones and their live dvd tones... but the tone they have does sound like it would cut excellent in a live setting... unfortunately I won't be able to see them now and compare it to before when they didn't use the axe but who cares!

well... the other two would be 650 and 700 watts which I hear is a good range but the qsc is 350 and I heard that wouldn't have enough headroom... and apparently SS clipping isn't exactly delightful...

Ultra vs. II head-to-head

I still really wanted to try my real 5150 into my 412 vs the 5150 sim (with power amp sim off) into the real 5150 poweramp and see how close it would sound. But in order to fund an axe the 5150 had to go bye bye haha but yes this would also be interesting to see/hear!

I've got no problem buying this ART power amp I just hope it's not a huge task just to get a sound close to what I had with my 5150 before I sold it, my 5150 sounded great and I'll probably just try to re-create that tone for the most part with the Axe... I only sold it because I got too...

When I hear "high gain" I think of it literally as just a "high gain" tone ... I never describe the sound I'm going for as "high gain" because... Marshall jcm2000's are high gain and so are 5150's... 5150's nail the sound I like, any marshall never could unless it was eddie's modified marshall...

I'm also wondering if all the super intricate stuff on the axe fx is fairly neautral before it's touched? Like I'm used to playing my 5150... If I make a patch with a ts808 going into the 5150 sim and just start tweeking the knobs that would normally appear on the OD and 5150 and not too much...

I read the manual and got some answers to certain things... but... Can you add a noise gate into the fx loop of the amp block? To get the effect of having a gate in front of the amp as well as in the effects loop (complete silence between riffs) or is the noise gate that's always on already...

I've been looking for heavy recordings of the axe that weren't direct... I'd love to hear a big metalcore album done with an axe fx, but not direct... still the old fashioned way with a cab and mic'd)... I'm on my laptop so I can't comment too much but it doesn't sound like COMPLETE shit so it...

I just looked up that the ground control pro was 460 dollars... I was under the impression it was more like 1400! I must have saw a price on a website that was the ground control pro switcher as well as the rack device that you hook up your pedals too... I could even afford the ground control...

In reality, I would like to have something as awesome and as cool as the ground control pro so I could have access to 6 presets and instant access... and all the bells and whistles... attracts me to the behringer (if it can do IA) but I really aint a fan oh behringer. Thanks for the suggestions...

what midi board?

Looking to get a foot controller and will basically use it like a "footswitch" I don't need an instant access delay button... anything... just space to make patches as I'm on a budget. Literally one that will work with the axe fx standard, has page up/down buttons and maybe 4 presets per page...
