Do you mean you want the FM9 to have courtesy outlet to plug in other items? If so, there is not really anything in it for the manufacturer to add something like this. I think the option you have is the best available solution.

    NGD: Taylor Next Gen 814ce

Their new design definitely allows for some quick adjustments that will make a big difference. Other than being easier to play - how is the tone compared to OM28? I'm sure the 814 is a bit louder, but how about the tone? I'm going to guess that the Martin has a bit rounder top end (a little...

What is happening now? If you went to lower gauge strings, that means less tension. You're likely to get buzzing and as stated by Ryan, you need to adjust the truss rod. I've taken 12s off a guitar and put 12s on of a different brand and got buzzing (because the different brand had different...

Suggest an IEM system for me - Xvive upgrade

Same. I would REALLY like to try the MiPro, but there are very few dealers in the US. Friends who have them out on the road are rarely home, and there is very little chance to borrow. If I could find a good deal on a used one, I'll probably buy it just for curiosity's sake.

Suggest an IEM system for me - Xvive upgrade

MiPro is not semi-pro. Their systems are used by touring FOH engineers to wirelessly tune a PA (using SMAART). I can also verify that the Audio Tech audio quality is better than Senn G4 (I had them side by side). It's not dramatic, but AT was better.
  18. BBN

Suggest an IEM system for me - Xvive upgrade

MiPro or Audio Tech ATW3255 (which is what I have). I had a hard time deciding between the two, but went with AT because it has the widest frequency range available and slightly less latency compared to MiPro. I never got a chance to try the MiPro, but I hear they are excellent.

Interesting - combine this with a 'shaping/coloring' software and it seems you could emulate other pickups. Their pickup, picks up a lot of extra high end content (almost sounds like an acoustic piezo). These would be great for using with acoustic Tone Match and IRs, to get a decent acoustic...

I don't disagree, a wireless editor would be much easier if the unit is on the floor. BUT - that assumes you have your Surface/Ipad with you. Sales don't tank overnight. People are invested in their current product. When it comes time to purchase again, that is when newer features come into the equation. I'm not selling my FM3 or Axe 3 for the Line 6 Stadium or whatever....but to keep competitive, you must evolve your tech. Or...

    Touch-screen: IMO not a wish in FM9

I agree, it's something to ensure is built to Fractal standards (and durability). The Quad Cortex has been out 5 years now, and no major failure trends....so seems like it can certainly be done. I'd be happy with a phone app to (via BT), but a touch screen on the floor seems like fun (and...

    Touch-screen: IMO not a wish in FM9

Touch screen is table stakes at this point. This feels so similar to the threads before the Axe 3 came out - some folks were 'happy with the green screen and didn't need/want it to change' vs. 'color screen is a must'.

What would the new-gen even have that the current gen doesn’t?

I would have said the same.....until my ipad bricked one night and I had to mix my band (via X32) on my phone. You can do it in a pinch. Simplify the controls you need on each screen. I know it's a different device, but mixing on glass requires small movements on many parameters.
  44. BBN

What would the new-gen even have that the current gen doesn’t?

I mean - I never thought you could remove or isolate instruments from a mixed track....but izotope software does it. So this doesn't seem like too far of a stretch. But as @mr_fender said - it may require so much processing power that it's just the right solution (vs. a hex pickup)
  45. BBN

What would the new-gen even have that the current gen doesn’t?

They already updated the previous firmware....it's called the current one. (just being humorous)
  46. BBN

Old Question! Same answer? or not!

I keep 7-8 out (to play). The rest in cases, just so there is less clutter. I keep those 7-8 in a room with humidity control (some high end acoustics), and they go back in their case if I think the humidity may change while I'm out.
  47. BBN

What would the new-gen even have that the current gen doesn’t?

It already exists. Fracpad and/or I will run Axe Edit on a MS Surface, which is touch screen. @Whizzinby - your comment about discussing the value of touchscreens in 2025 is spot on.
  48. BBN

What would the new-gen even have that the current gen doesn’t?

Nobody said 'copy'. Modernizing features to complete is often required to survive. Pick an industry. Do you believe that Fractal has not learned from competitors?
  49. BBN

What would the new-gen even have that the current gen doesn’t?

But, but....nobody mentioned touch screens on Marshalls. This is a strawman argument. Googled touch screen failure on Behringer. Nothing scared me that I read. Per my earlier post - components fail in all products. Google Luddite instead.
  50. BBN

What would the new-gen even have that the current gen doesn’t?

You can dislike technology evolution as much as you'd like. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and preferences. But it's coming. Not because it's coddling, but because these products are evolving in that direction. (Quad Cortex, Line6 Stadium, Ampero...) Competition drives innovation and...
  51. BBN

What would the new-gen even have that the current gen doesn’t?

I mean, by definition - none of that stuff can happen when playing your guitar....because your hands are on your guitar. Many of the units with touch screens offer 'lock screen', so that nothing accidental can happen (assuming it was a device that was on the floor to begin with). The same...

  53. BBN

What would the new-gen even have that the current gen doesn’t?

And I just see it as - they must use quality parts. I have iPads that outlived my old AX8 (that had failing components). Point is - any parts can fail. Touchscreens are not a limitation, and they are going to become standard in years to come. But Fractal will have to use parts that are on par...
  54. BBN

What would the new-gen even have that the current gen doesn’t?

Coddle....LOL! People that dislike technology evolution truly baffle me. Reminds me of my wife (who is 12yrs younger than me) saying she would never get a cell phone that didn't have a physical keypad. "I'm never moving to a full touch screen!".
  55. BBN

What would the new-gen even have that the current gen doesn’t?

Because it allows a more intuitive experience. I've been using Fractal since the Ultra, and to this day, when I want to 'move to the left' on he UI, I don't know if it's the 'regular arrow' or the 'page arrow' to move to the left. Sorry, but the UI (compared to other touch devices) has much...
