Wish X/Y for volume block

Simple question re: humbuster cables

Was looking at the specs for the humbuster cables in the axe-fx ii manual, and was wondering if there is any considerable difference between wiring the cable with TRS-TS plugs as shown in the manual vs. taking a TRS-TRS cable and shorting R-S on one end. Feels logically the same in my head...

Carvin DCM1000L/2000L vs. TS100 vs. VHT 2/50/2 or 2/90/2

Anyone swapped speakers in an older Atomic amp?

I've been using a pair of the old Atomic 1x12's (18 watters) with my Axe-FX, and thought it sounded a bit dark. After some consultation with the folks at Atomic, I was told that the power amp response is flat, but the speaker has the high end rolled off (to be less harsh with other modelers)...
