    The Edge/U2 and UAFX pedals

Agree and all your assumptions are right on target. Many (not all) of Edge's strat songs are played in quack position (Streets, AIWIY, Pride, ISHFWILF, etc). Strat quack into AC-30 set to "edge of breakup" is the core tone. Don't forget the Edge uses a Herdim pick and turns it sideways. He...

    The Edge/U2 and UAFX pedals

Sure, I'll post it next time I turn on the gear (over the holiday). I tried the SDD-3000 before the amp and to me it's just a boost. Maybe my ears can't tell, but it doesn't seem to doo much. It's not the key to my tone with the Axe. I've learned to simplify. I tried to make all my core...

    The Edge/U2 and UAFX pedals

I know, but I just can't get the Axe model to work the way I want to without turning it on and up. I've tried others' presets over the years and they are almost always too "thiin and/or brittle." So I started from scratch one day and spent hours experimenting with all the knobs to understand...

    The Edge/U2 and UAFX pedals

And here is a Streets clip without the backtrack and a few other snippets with and without delay so you can hear the underlying AC-30 tone. AC-30 Model Tones w/ & wo Delay

    The Edge/U2 and UAFX pedals

I made some minor tweeks to my preset based on FW 21.04. I used the Paris clip above as my reference point. There is no tone matching here. As I mentioned above, there is no reason to ever use another amp. BTW the trick for U2 tone IMHO with the Axe is the negative feedback knob. For the...

    Takahiro Moriuchi Rocks

Taka is the lead singer of One Ok Rock (Japan). This is fantastic! Note the jazz touch at the end.

    The Edge/U2 and UAFX pedals

I'll update my Streets preset over next few days or latest firmware release (it's been a while since I played the song) and then I'll post a clip. I like the tone in the Slane version but over last few years I've been using the Paris clip as a reference. I can get very close to that version...

    The Edge/U2 and UAFX pedals

So kind of you thank you! Yes, I found Mick and others on the same group. They are my mentors. The only time I've been ahead of Edge was with regards to Fractal. I can say I started using it before he did and said he should simplify his rig. ;-)

    Bryan Adams and Keith Scott!

One of my fav artists of all time. I missed him many times on tour. But this past week I was early on Ticketmaster presale and just scored two front row center tickets in Raleigh for next March. Can't wait!

    The Edge/U2 and UAFX pedals

The Axe-Fx has an amazing Vox model for U2. The best part is you can adjust so many parameters to dial in any adjustments you need. About 12 years ago I wasn't happy with the Axe model in the old unit and used the Liverpool pedal which is fantastic (warm and you can dial in great AC-30 tone)...

    Barracuda flanger

I came across this old thread. This is one of my favorite rock guitar tones of all time. I’ve studied the song and tracks and not only is it a flanger but the key to the tone is how the two tracks complement each other. The song can be played with one guitar but it’s not like the epic studio...

    Heart - Barracuda amp tone

I was able to connect with Roger Fisher, one of the original guitarists in Heart (with Howard Leese), and I asked him what he used. This is a direct quote from him: "Strat and Marshall. It's in the hands, heart, and soul. The gear doesn't really matter." There are two guitar tracks. At least...

AFIII Stevie Nicks' "Edge of Seventeen" Cover (Live Guitar Tone)

So here it is! I was able to capture the elusive live tone of Waddy Wachtel's work on "Edge of Seventeen" by Stevie Nicks. This is Axe-Fx III with no tone match. No delay either. It's all up and down 16th notes. Waddy doesn't use effects, although the studio version definitely has some post...
