Mac OSX Driver?

10.7 is Lion, 10.8 is Mountain Lion. (and I'm not lyin") I also just realized that if you can, go to Mountain Lion because Lion sucks! (at least it did for us here at work. We all went back to Snow Leopard 10.6.8) I've read that Lion is Apple's Vista LOL!

Terrific... It's always something. Does anyone know if Logic Pro 8.0 will work with mountain Lion? Also what other issues can I expect to have with my old machine?

What problems did you have with Lion? I haven't had any.

Since updating to 7.0 my axe II freezes every so often. At first I thought it was because I used Axe Edit with some TMA presets. I updated to FW8.01 and even if I do not fire up Axe Edit at all but used the USB to hear backing tracks, it would eventually freeze up and go silent. I updated my macbook to latest version of 10.7 which I guess is lion. Reinstalled the mac USB drivers. I still get freeze ups if the USB is hooked to the mac. No USB hooked up I can play all day with zero issues.

Is this a known issue? Seems more than just Axe Edit as I am not even starting up Axe Edit and I am freezing often.

Currently running SL.imac.dlod driver four weeks ago went in,no issues.Working fine, here.
I hope a new iteration of AE would be backwards compatible with 10.6.8.I,too,have hardware that would not run on MLion.Never intended to move from Sleopard til this mac died.

Just make a new partition or add a hard drive that has 10.7.4. Hard drives are cheap!

Lion won't install on older Intel Macs, even if the CPU has been updated to a Lion compatible CPU. Lion's install checks the motherboard version to see what hardware the machine shipped with - it doesn't check what hardware the machine actually has. I'm stuck on 10.6.8 with my Mini, which sits next to my Axe.

With 2GB of RAM, you're going to cap out in most DAWs right quick. The good news: memory is crazy cheap these days. I put 16GB in my 3-year old i5 imac for around $100.

How old is your Mac Mini? Lion works with Intel Core 2 Duo's.

It's an early one. I upgraded it to a Core 2 Duo more ram and a 3.5" drive (that sits outside the case), the early Mini's had a motherboard that was compatible with a Core 2 Duo but shipped before the Core 2 Duo was released - so it's a simple swap. OSX's System Information reports the correct hardware but Lion's install checks the motherboard version and assumes the processor is original and not a Core 2 Duo.

Ok so more Ram, Mountain Lion, I'm guessing Logic pro 8 will work with these upgrades without any issues?

EDIT looks like my machine has the special price book when it comes to Ram. Seems a mid to late 2007 Duo core can only be upgraded to a total of 6 gigs. A 4 gig card looks to be $80...

I have the same configuration, everything works flawlessly. I've read so much bad things about 10.7 that I will stop upgrade my Mac OSX...
10.6.8 works also great with Logic Pro. Even with Axe-edit open. Nice to play with both without hassle.
10.7.4 and 10.7.5 are just fine.
Logic/Pro Tools/Studio One/Reaper work fine the as as to all but extremely outdated/orphaned plugins.

Hi all,

Sorry you're having trouble.

This message means you're using an incompatible version of OS X or a Mac which doesn't meet the minimum hardware requirements.

Driver requirements are:

- OS X: 10.7.4 or later
- Intel Processor
- 512MB minimum RAM
- USB 2.0 Support required

Oooh... Not good. My hardware will not allow me to upgrade past 10.6.8!

It works with 10.6.8

I have another MBP, and I forgot that it came loaded with 10.6.8, so I used it to d/l the Mac OS driver. I also installed Axe Edit, and it worked just fine, as a couple other people have noted already. I then was able to update my Axe FW from 6.0 to 8.01.

I have to jump through all the hoops... 10.6 - 10.8. Just for kicks I tried downloading a free 10.6 update and it didn't work it told me I needed 10.6 in oder for it to down load. So I have to buy a copy of SL then buy a copy of ML :cry. Seems like a lot of work just to down load an OSX driver... crap!

I was set on having to do the same thing (buy SL, that is), until it dawned on me (Duh!) that my other MBP might have 10.6.x already on it--and it did.

Anyway, I found several copies of SL on ebay for pretty cheap. Try there first to get SL, then d/l your 10.6.x upgrades for free??

I was looking at that this morning I'm leery about doing it with licensing agreements and such... I need to do a little more home work to see if that is the way to go or just spend the extra $$$ and buy from Apple.

Is it even available anymore from Apple? I tried to find it online at the Apple store, and I couldn't.

...So, I can't use Axe Edit with my Axe. That means I'll need to use SysEx Librarian instead. I'm monkeyed around with it last night, and I think I was able to dump a couple presets from my Axe, as well as Bank A, but the sysex files all said "untitled" in my SysEx library. That made me wonder if things didn't work properly....
That's how it works; you have to name the resulting file manually--SysEx Librarian has no idea what the name should be. Just click on show file, which will open a finder window with the file selected.

I have done a little more investigating and for me, because I have such an old machine and OS some say it is not a good idea to upgrade to 10.7 at all. If this is the case I'm screwed when it comes to getting the Axe to comm with my iMac. I don't have a lot of programs Keynote, Pages, Numbers, Logic Pro 8. The rest are box programs that came with Leopard. Anyone have any suggestion or experience with this issue?
