Pedalboard for FM3

Do you carry in the Rockboard hardcase or gig-bag? I thought of getting the 4.1 with hardcase but I read somewhere that one haves to push hard to close the lid, meaning some pressure on the FM3 handles.
I use the gig bag. It’s a snug fit when closed (I keep all the cables I need in the front pouch) but nice and compact. I just make sure nothing gets put on top of it when loading into the car. It’s sturdy enough for me, I’ve had no problems with it in 2+ years.

I see the FM3 buttons are making dents on the bag. I'm gonna use case, as we use a van and sometimes fly... I was deciding between the Rockboard with the original case (but I'm afraid the overall height is a bit much to close the lid comfortably) and the Rockboard with a Peli-style case: https://www.thomann.de/flyht_pro_wp_safe_box_5_ip65.htm

Ok, here's mine. It's a cool little setup, but a bit nerdy... I mean unconventional. Years ago I made an Ikea Gorm (?) shelf pedalboard. I mount the FM3 on that. I also have a smaller "satellite" board that docs on the Gorm that contains my midi switcher and a couple of expression pedals. What's cool is that the satellite board is totally wireless. It gets power from the power supply mounted under the Gorm, but has its own rechargeable battery. So when it disconnects from the Mother Board (har), it can run for like 5 hours by itself. I'm using wireless midi to communicate with the FM3, which also does switching for the Mesa head.

What I love about this is the flexibility. I can have the whole board together, or If I want a simplified setup, I can keep the FM3 back near the amp and the satellite board up by the mic stand with zero cables.

I don't really have a case situation for the FM3, but the satellite board has a bag. It was just a cheap Ghostfire board, but it's killer and the bag is really nice. I may get a properly sized board for the FM3 so it can have protection. Then I'll just have two boards, but it won't be as cool. Now I feel like I'm landing the shuttlecraft on the enterprise. lol

EDIT: for anyone curious, I use the small midi controller to Up/Down presets, top right button does tap tempo and tuner (hold for tuner). Bottom 3 buttons are assigned to whatever blocks I want to turn off and on. When I change FM3 scenes, it tells the Bridge 6 which LED's to light up, so the small controller can stay relatively in sync with the FM3. It's not perfect and sometimes gets out of sync (ie, a drive is on but the Bridge's drive LED isn't lit up).

To fix that, I built a little midi translator box (not pictured) that's only job is to listen to the FM3's sysex info, and convert that to midi data. Long story short, it gives me complete sync between units because the FM3 is always the "boss".

I narrowed down the choices to Temple Audio Duo 17 or Fender Professional Pedal Board S. Both have advantages and disadvantages - the thing I like on the Fender is that is haves two pre-drilled mounted panels to mount a XLR (ou other) terminals. The Temple is a fantastic unit but the modular stuff is expensive, specially the IEC panel. I would prefer, if possible, to avoid taking cables out and in the FM3, I fear the continuous movement on around 50+ concerts per year damage something...
What did you end up with? I am also on the market for a pedalboard (Duo 17, rockboard 3.0 or 4.1).

Rockboard Quad 4.1. Dual lock on the 4 corners of the FM3 rubber feet and it's very strong attached. Also this allows for the bottom vent to have room.

The 4.1 allows for any connected cables on the back of the FM3 to be on the pedalboard instead of out as it would it be the case of 3.0 (avoiding stepin' on those accidently by singer or audience).

I tried putting a dual lock on the 4 corners of my FM3's rubber feet with 3M dual lock but its not holding for me. Can you show a picture how did you do it?

I can try to explain. The FM3 is already mounted to the board, but unfortunately I didn’t document the installation process.

What I did was cut a rectangular piece of 3M Dual Lock and attach the adhesive side to the FM3 rubber feet. Then, with the mating Dual Lock piece already attached to that rectangle, I removed the backing and pressed it firmly onto the board. This way, everything was assembled on the FM3 before mounting it to the board.

I’ll try to take a picture, but since it’s already assembled, I’m not sure how helpful it will be.

I had my FM3 mounted on a Rockboard Quad 4.1 for a while using some Dual Lock. The pedalboard already had the loop side of the velcro that came with the board stuck to it, but I found that just a small piece of Dual Lock on each corner of the FM3 (with the rubber feet left on) held it in place quite strongly. The trick was to wiggle the FM3 a bit while pressing down on it to get it to securely bind with the velcro loops.

Can you share what model/type of case is this? Very nice board btw. I'll build something similar to yours.

It’s an older generation PedalTrain tour case. It’s bigger than the board - so there is room for some small wireless units and a small pelican case in addition to the board.

Thanks! Can you give me an estimate how much does your board weigh now? With and without the case? I have the PTJR-SC with the FM3, RC3, and Drop—it weighs around 6.2Kg.

I have a temple audio 17 as well with my FM3. I sold my Quad cortex and I have a left over CIOKS DC7 + CIOKS, that doesnt work with the Fractal. How are you keeping the FM powered on the board? Im using an outlet current but would like to have a power supply so i can have my board plugged into the wall outlet instead

I have a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 under my FM9 Temple Audio board.

It has a "courtesy" outlet.

The Temple power panel passes AC from the board to the PP2, that in turn passes AC to the FM9 and DC to required pedals, etc.

This may sound silly, but I’m struggling to comprehend the transition from the Voodoo Labs board to the FM3. The head of the IEC cable is too large to fit through the holes on the board. If that makes sense.

I recently did a new small board and used the Temple Duo 17. I don’t screw the FM3 to it (I want to be removable without tools, since I switch between this and a bigger board with an FC6) but it works great with Dual Lock. I DIY’d my own aluminum panels for the connections on the sides.

I’m happy with the Temple so far - light weight but strong. I didn’t buy the Temple hard case as I already had a hard case that it fits into nicely.
