FM3 Firmware Version 12.0

FYI - In the past I followed the rule of keeping the CPU below 80%. I used to do that, but on my original FM3, with recent updates, I think that is more like 73% now to keep things running smoothly with no glitches. Just a tip for normal users to pay attention to the CPU when setting up presets. And make sure you click through all the scenes to check. (this is not a complaint - i love all the recent quality updates)

I agree with you. Since I started limiting presets to 75% or lower I have had zero issues with weird events like crashes or loud noise. When I 1st bought my unit I’d get as close to 80 as possible. Also not a complaint. I’m happy with the FM3. Even with the OG FM3 and 75% limit, it still does a lot.

IMG_6119.jpegHi folks. Need help. Since I updated my old non-turbo FM3 to Firmware 12, I have problem with hanging during scene change and preset change (getting message line “communicating with device” or smth similar or sometimes even screen comes on. On some presets no such problem, but by the most my presets I have this issue. Any idea how to solve?

How much cpu are these presets using?

What is your CPU usage?

Try another USB cable and port if possible

Reduce the CPU load... 80% is the max recommended.

Check each scene in your preset. Different scenes can use different amounts of CPU.
I tried that. Some presets have like 69-72% and still hanging during scene switch. Never had it before FW12, even on 12 beta was ok. Maybe some reset will help?

Is the hardware also hanging or just the editor?

Also, you said “cable works fine” but didn’t say if you tried another cable. All cables work fine until they don’t and that can be intermittent…

So... I’m still using firmware version 9.02 beta 2. Should I update my FM3 to version 12, or wait for a newer version? :yum:

I’d upgrade but be prepared to do some work to get your presets back. It’s changed quite a bit since 9. Some new toys to play with and some new amp models too. A couple more Dynacabs if you use them. FAS just released an update for the Axe so we’ll be getting that update before too long.

Both hardware and editor. Yes, I tried another cable as well.

It hangs even without cable when I use FM3 as pedalboard (4CM) with my tube combo. 74% CPU load

I reinstalled the factory presets last night because the Tucana-preset (no. 36) was contained again in no. 37. After reinstalling this did not change. Is this a peculiarity of my FM3 or is this by design?

How do you have the preset offset on Setup?
