Introducing ICONS - Amp Modeling + FX - Plugins & Standalone

Im missing something with setting up Axe3 standalone. No issues using Apollo.
Setup audio settings as instructed and audio showing in the Icons meters.
Headphones plugged into Axe - . no sound.
Output is 1+2
Go to the Input page and follow directions for Fractal as audio interface.

can anyone else hear this? like a wierd overtone. I've tried "dialling it out" with various settings, but it's stil there. removed all gates, tried my other plugs, it's not there. calibrated it to 0db, as I'm using a DI box into the input. tried it without the DI box, still there. not a huge biggie, but sounds like a harmoniser is on to me.

Probably a ghost note. Those old amps do that.

thanks for this, thought I was going nuts, I remember reading a wiki quote from you where you said, that some of the old amps make wierd noises and that if you had your way, you'd remove all the noise, but you couldn't because "customers like faithful reproductions"

Doesn't changing power supply from AC to DC fix this? Not sure if that's available in the plugin.

never really heard this kind of thing before, but I guess it exits, I'll look at the plugin again. can't use the plugin standalone as it's only stereo inputs on the options menu. so need to fire up the DAW.

not a problem really, I've not used the fender amps before, im a marshall/engl/plexi amp guy, I just noticed it tonight. just goes to show really how accurate the modelling is.

If you're into the modern music production world, external gear is becoming increasingly rare even in professional settings. Almost every record I've listened to lately was purely digital amps. Neural DSP is DOMINATING right now. It was honestly a huge mistake for Fractal from a business perspective to ignore this market for so long.
Got a Steve Jobs in the thread!

Because it makes software hard to steal, I'm guessing.
I have never understood the animosity towards iLok. I like iLok for several reasons:

1. If you use an iLok USB Authorisation Key it makes licenses portable. You can easily use a single license on multiple computers.
2. For $30 a year you can purchase protection for your licenses from loss or theft.

If you've ever had a hard drive fail and lost installed licenses then you know what a hassle it can be to recover your licenses. This happened to me quite a few years ago and it took me many hours of email and phone calls, and some licenses I never recovered. Thankfully, I haven't had a massive hardware failure or loss or theft since I got my iLok USB, but if I did iLok will recover ALL of my iLok registered licenses in 24 hours. Plus, it protects the intellectual property of those who have worked hard to create. And in 10plus years I have never had a compatibility problem. It just works.

So, I have never understood the animosity towards iLok. It is a small added expense for greater peace of mind and ease of use. At least that's how I see it. YMMV

Agreed. And it’s by far the best solution when you have to setup a new system - all the ilok authorisations just involve plugging your iLok in or logging in. All the software with their own proprietary protection required any number of different processes per plugin, often involving scouring old emails and trying to remember logins for websites. When you have hundreds of plugins, that time really adds up.

The proprietary protection methods ALWAYS get cracked very quickly too.

Yes, 100%. I have a piece of software called Transcribe! that I use to learn new parts. The license key is about 40 - 50 alpha numeric characters, with a smattering of special characters thrown in. Every time I install it I have to look up the email that I received at least 15 years ago. I have a lot of plugins. Doing this with every application/plugin would be a nightmare. Of course, it might also get me to pare down the extraneous software I install but rarely, if ever, use. But that's a whole different matter. :)

I applaud FAS for getting into the plugin/VST game!! I hope it will be a successful path🤗

I'm not recording/mixing that much anymore, but if there in the future will be a VST that aligns more with the amps and fx I use on the hardware - it will be very tempting. Also a possibility to share patches with the hardware.

Newbie here: Minor issue but I like to read everything when getting into stuff:
both on the website as the wiki, the link to the mentioned press release 260209-Fractal-Audio-Systems-ICONS-Amp-Modeling-Plugin.pdf does not work
