Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Notes

31.04

Increased pitch tracking range in Pitch block to ~2500 Hz. This allows tracking pinch harmonics better.

Improved pitch shifting for low frequencies, e.g. bass guitars.

Grouped types in Reverb block to aid in selection.

Increased range of Attack Time in Input block. Attack Time can now be set to a minimum of 0.1 ms. Existing presets are automatically updated.

Increased range of Attack Time in Gate block. Attack Time can now be set to a minimum of 0.1 ms. Existing presets are automatically updated.

Added Swedish Metal model to Drive block based on a Boss HM-2.

Added 1S2473 diode type to Drive block (to support Swedish Metal model).

Added “Transistor” Power Tube Type. This is now the default type for the Jazz 120 amp model and models a transistor output stage. Existing presets using this model are automatically updated.

Improved power tube grid modeling in Amp block.

Fixed preset updater not correctly setting Preamp Hardness if Amp block using EF86 tube type.

Various other fixes and improvements.

Boss HM-2 was my first distortion pedal - bought used from Scanlan music (for anyone of a certain age in SE Mich) in the late 80s. Played it with a $100 strat knock off through a Traynor bass amp in my first band.

I was thinking it might help those folks looking to recreate Dime/Randall or Ty/L5 tones.

I only once played a Lab L5 many many years ago at a jam and remember being surprised with it, particularly how I could get leads to really sing and it had a pretty good overall feel.

Yes, particularly for lapsteel, pedal steel, etc players …..

I will certainly enjoy, I suppose.

Yes indeed...a more hi-fi, pristine, articulate clean tone that suits those instruments nicely.

Just noticed the Angry Chuck has very low volume or gain on my presets. I tried scrolling through the drive models and Blues OD and Rat Models seem to have the same issue.

Created a new preset attached, something weird is going on, the drives seem to have less drive than straight into the Vox.

Scene 1 Angry Chuck
Scene 2 VS9
Scene 3 Amp only

Both Drive scenes 1+2 seem to have low gain. Tried changing guitar cable.

Am I doing something stupid?
