AM4 + VP4 : Example Rig

Is AM4 + VP4 + Morningstar really the same size and weight as an FM9?
This is the size difference according to Pedal Playground with an MC-6 Pro, and according to the specs, it would weigh about 3 pounds less than the FM9. I guess if you added in a pedalboard to that, then you would be getting closer to the same weight. This gives you a lot more modularity if you wanted to just use some of the components in certain situations, and also gives you a lot more MIDI/switching capabilities (I like to use foot switches to control my DAW, and use the on-board relay for switching amp channels).

That's about what i guessed, similar size without the Morningstar. Seems like some more flexibility in a way, but more to configure, and if you really use that modularity, more switches to press.

More flexibility and more knobs to configure is often used as a selling feature by Fractal fans... for some of us geeks, that is a feature :D

I watched this video and tried to configure am4 and vp4 but there is no sound at the speaker (the cable goes from the output L of the am4 to the input of the case). Someone could re-explain step by step the cable connections and maybe the settings on the setup because maybe that's where I'm wrong. Then I wanted to ask you if I use the spfid connection should the cables be kept or is only the spfid cable enough? Thank’ in advance

If you're going AM4 to VP4 via SPDIF, you have to take the output from the VP4. Also, you need to send midi out of the AM4 to midi in of the VP4.

Now I have the AM4 finally delivered and available its hooked up to my existing VP4 on this pedal board. Its working well and I'm busy putting together presets for both that work like one integrated modeller.

Nice!

How are you liking the Poly Shifter?
I haven't used it yet so cant comment. Pedal board really only just finished and sorting out how I want to operate it. I have it wired in so its not in use until I plug in the two patch cables that are attached to it, into the correct jacks. So its guitar straight into the AM4 through the Rockboards rear facing jack. When I want to use the Poly Shifter I plug the guitar into the side jack and into the pedal jacks. It only takes seconds to alter the patch cabling to bring the Poly Shifter into play.
I watched Leon Todds review of the Poly Shifter and that was enough to convince me it should do what I want in front of the AM4. Looking forward to finishing this little project and finally playing some music.
