FM9 Firmware Version 11.0

Came here looking for this answer as well - was the amp soft reset feature updated to tickle the preamp tube hardness or is that still untouched as it was in 11.0b2?

EDIT: just installed, changed the preamp tube hardness to 0, hit soft reset on the amp channel, and can confirm that it did NOT update to the factory setting for the selected tube (12AX7A Syl) which appears to be 5.72 on the 6G4 Super, so that's a bummer. Guess we're still in manual fix land.
And even weirder, when I manually updated EVERY ONE OF MY FARKING CHANNELS in 11.0b2, all of my Matchless D30 EF86 channels updated to 2.50. Now when I re-select EF86 it updates to 7.40. Not thrilled about having to touch them all again.

Still... the rest of the update is amazing.

All factory presets now show up with their preset number highlighted as if to tell they were created with an older firmware version and need to be migrated (saved again). Is this an indicator of a new factory preset pack coming ?

Happens on every firmware update. It's not a sign of anything.

I created this reminder for myself how to quickly re-save all presets to remove this highlight: https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/save-all-presets-quick-video-tutorial.211066/

Would it be possible to share the new default values for tube hardness? is this a setting per tube or per amp? before the update i changed the plexi slp treble EEC83 to the 12AX7A RCA because it seemed to have less harsh highs, default setting used to be 6.5 but i changed it to 7.5 to get more bite in a downtuned guitar. the new default is 2.0 sounds more muddy if i go upward it gets modern. are there any guidelines on how to adjust? i am struggeling to find the new sweet spot. perhaps a table with new vs. old values?

According to release notes:

● Improved Phase Inverter modeling - Went through every model with a fi ne-toothed comb and adjusted power amp and phase inverter parameters as needed to refl ect new modeling. NOTE: The Preamp Tube Hardness parameter functions differently now. Existing presets are automatically updated to the default value for the selected amp model.

So, as I understand any manually edited old tube harness is lost after the update.
You will have to try/error to find the equivalent to the old custom 7.5 value within the new updated values.

I updated from 11.00 Beta 2 and the Preamp Tube Hardness is not automatically updated for the AC-20 EF86. I checked both my own Presets and the factory Presets AC-20 Deluxe and Brett's AC-20.
Besides that; the FW 11.00 sounds glorious :)

I understand that it says that. However, it doesn’t happen.
Specifically: All of my DC30 ef86 channels had a hardness value around 2.5 after upgrade, soft amp reset, and batch re-save in 11.0. Re-selecting ef86 jumped to 7.4.

So either 7.4 is the new factory value for that and it didn’t update, or 2.5 is and the tube select is using a weird value (and I just wasted a LOT of time last night updating everything again manually)

That is intended operation.

The preamp tube hardness is dependent upon both the tube type AND the model

For the DC30 w/ EF86 the hardness should be 7.4.

I tried selecting manually the ef86 and the default value is indeed 7.4. Don't know where that 2.5 came from.

Are you sure you are using the proper model with default EF86?

The normal model tube hardness is 2.6 with 12AX7 Sylvania.

anyone know what preamp hardness is supposed to be for ecc83 on 100w plexi jumped per post #7 in this thread?
2.2 or 2.6 or other?

I beleive the phase inverter and preamp tube settings should have gotten converted in its entirity. Or at least provide a manual on how the values interact. I have modified the PI Bias Excursion and tube hardness settings and 4 of my plexi presets have declined in quality after the update. I was hoping this got updated after the beta but for now I have to revert back to fw10.

I use the quick re-save all presets every time, however, even though we have 511 presets, for me it always stops at 411. Is this a bug maybe? Or am I doing something wrong?

As you can see I have been a good customer for Marco Fanton

How did you do that?

Can't you just use the "Update All Presets" utility on the unit?
Where can I find that utility on a FM9?
