šŸ”„Introducing the new AM4 Amp Modeler

I'm just going to throw this out there:

If Fractal Audio would make a stereo input/output power amp tubed with EL34s/6L6s approximately the size of (or a little bigger) a Seymour Duncan Powerstage 100...
.....I'd buy it in a nano-second.

I imagine I can have FM9 turbo mark II and it's editor installed and also the AM4 and it's drivers and editor? Guess I should have checked first, but,,,,,,I am confident nothing has changed in this regard with fractal products :) Hello Matt!

I don't see why not

I just bought the FM9 turbo mark II 2 e weeks ago, to replace my original. I still have the FM3 turbo mark II and FC6 in boxes in my closet-unused.
It's all good imho!~
No I am not rich, but I am a guitar player............................
I hear ya! I bought an FM9 Turbo Mark II this summer along with the VP4.
Love the FM9; couldn't bond with the VP4 (sold). On the fence about the AM4.
I would consider the AM4 a better fit for my need's vs the VP4 since it has a headphone output.
I feel lack of a headphone option was a missed opportunity on the VP4.......but anyway....

Eyes What GIF

Can it be seen as an "expansion" of the FM3? I'd really like an additional Amp block without getting an FM9...

Curious if this is updated until the current gen is end-of-life or it is designed to run the updates based on the newer amp modeling algorithm to be implemented on upcoming next-gen products

I mean physically I don't think this is possible. You've gotta get power and output transformers in there along with the tubes, and those are negatively impacted tonally when they're shrunk down too. KSR PA50 and Fryette PS-2A are essentially the smallest big tube amps I know. They're huge compared to a PS 100.

More to the point, I don't think it would be very Fractal-like to produce a tube amp in the first place. It would make more sense to me if they did a very high quality, no compromises rackmount power amp like the Matrixes of yore.

I also need to know this... if this is the case I would definately prefer the AM4 to the FM3...

It's not the same thing, FM3 is very powerful and can emulate a quite complex rig. The AM4 is IMHO it's little big brother that enters in any bag, pocket, is light and a genius solution for jam sessions or integration in pedal board rigs. We're gonna see this thing all over the place in less than no time !

When connecting the AM3 and VP4 via S/PDIF, is it better to place the AM3 at the final output stage and put the VP4 in front, or the other way around? Since the VP4’s outputs are unbalanced, it seems more appropriate to let the AM3 handle the final output. However, if I want to use multi-tap delays and similar effects, it feels like the VP4 should be the final unit in the chain. I purchased the VP4 as soon as it was released, but I still don’t understand why it doesn’t support balanced outputs.

You can run AM4's SPDIF out to VP4's SPDIF in and VP4's analog out into the insert of the AM4.
I guess that's what the insert was made for since it allows you to place anything before the balanced out (without going thru any conversion)

The Redsound single rack mount power amps are exceptional and highly recommended.
