🔥Introducing the new AM4 Amp Modeler

For someone who wildly underuses the capabilities of the flagship, this is really, really appealing. I've also been looking for something a little more portable as I hate lugging a rack around (even just to different rooms of the house). Haven't been enjoying the little tube-based amp options that are available these days so far. This looks like a real winner.

Sort of bummed I just bought an FC-12 to replace my FC-6 as I'm now wondering if this could become my whole rig, especially since I'm one of those weirdos who struggled to ever fully part with their pedals.

Guess I'll buy it and see!


Question for people smarter than me -- With no XLR out, what will I need to buy cable-wise run it to a Fender FR10?

No. The AM4 is an amp modeler, so its whole design is different. It has features like balanced line-level outputs instead of unity gain, and of course the new AM4 Amp block, which includes built-in DynaCabs. To support live amp selection, it introduces Amp Mode on the footswitches—four fully color-customizable channels plus a built-in output boost. It also has a very tasty set of effects blocks but it does not have all of the blocks that are offered on the VP4.

By comparison, the VP4 is specifically designed to add effects to an amp or modeler. It works great with an AM4, but it’s a separate product with a different purpose—not replaced by AM4 in any way.

Can you still have dual amps? Or does that take up another block? And any looper
 
Thanks for not allowing it to run two amps in parallel, otherwise I'd be buying one .
Or did I miss that in the manual and then I'd have to pony up for a new Fractal Audio toy.
 
Just read the manual but didn’t think I saw this so I ask.
Is it or will it be possible to create some kind of « custom presets mode »?

Would be cool to have 4 presets + 4 others on hold on the foot switches.

In custom Tap/Hold mode you can assign switches to Preset Up/Down.
 
One thing jumping out that I would honestly love in the more powerful units is the consolidation of modes. From the manual:

"The Drive block nowfeatures a switchable Mode control instead of separate types for certain pedals (for example, Compulsion Distortion HP/LP)."

"The number of amps is different because some “legacy” amp types have beenremoved and others have been consolidated. For example, the two models JR BLUES and JR BLUES FAT are now one model with an actual Fat switch."
 
Was reading thru the manual and this answers another question I had in mind:

SPLIT: In Split Mode, the AM4 uses an automatic routing configuration
that sends the full amp-and-cab sound to one side and a “no-cab” signal
to the other. Each output operates in summed mono.

Pretty cool!
 
So just got back from the VA Medical Center-turned on my PC top check emails and low and behold, a new product-I mean these guys keep secrets really well. Considering I love Fractal stuff, I just ordered it without read9ing past a few pages...........
