  • The range of amplifiers offered by Crown / Carvin are very wide, only two models are listed here.
  • The Seymour Duncan Power Stage range consists of 4 models, but only the PS700 is listed

If you are motivated you could add the ~price.

The GPA 400 has no fan!
Correction made, I do not wish to add the price because, depending on local taxes, it can differ significantly.

is it neutral ?
Don't know what you mean by "neutral". Do you mean 20-20k +/- 0.5 dB? I don't own one, so I don't know the specs. However, I have owned a Mesa 50/50 (the old one) since the late 80s, and a Simul 2:90 for a 12-year period in the late 90s, and they both sounded great, albeit with a tube pre (Mesa Studio Pre) driving them, and a pr of Mesa 1-12s with C90s.

I don't know how they translate to the frfr paradigm, but I have used my 50/50 and the Mesa 1-12s with my FM-3, and it sounded (and felt) phenomenal, BUT I don't believe it is as "neutral" as a great frfr (in my case, I use Yamaha DHR12M powered coax wedges, very similar to the EV PXMs).

The Mesa tube gear sounds great amplifying anything, including the FM-3, and does the AITR thing well, but the amp models are being seen thru the "lens" of very good, but not transcription quality, tube guitar amplification, with the added thump and slice tube amps often impart. And as noted, I have never owned the Mesa 20/20, don't know where it sits on the "accurate vs. idealized" amplification spectrum--, but perhaps others on the thread have more extensive experience. The two stereo Mesa poweramps I have owned were excellent, extremely heavy, bombproof, but I suspect that solid-state class AB or D will be lighter, cheaper--and even possibly more "neutral" than most tube gear, especially tube guitar gear. And the only Mesa tube amp that is 1U is the 20/20, I believe.

Allowing for 2U opens up a lot of additional amps to compare.

I see you added a few already!

I think I'm going to open it up to rack-mountable amplifiers! The criteria are that the amplifier must be a flat-response type, whether for PA systems or not, or recognized by the Fractal community as being suitable for digital simulations. But it will be impossible to list everything...

Either it was designed for this purpose, or the community is using it as such.

Sure.. if you're doing the power stage then you should do the Pedal Baby

also, the Fryette PS-2/a and PS-100 are 2U and should probably be on the list.

you are right, there are a lot of options out there. great list though! thank you

The PS700 is rack-mountable in 2U, the Pedal Baby 100 is not, but I added it because it's very popular.
